Thursday, February 29, 1996 "Habit" to at Irish by Ryan Bogart and Jeannine Ouillette Collegian Staff As explained in last week's newspaper, My Olde Habit, a student band on campus, held their first concert at the Brookside Community Center this past Friday night, February 23. The show opened with May Chamber, a band from Rochester, New York. They were about two hours late due to car trouble. They were scheduled to play from 8 to 9:30 p.m., before My Olde Habit, but showed up and played for only a half hour. "It was too bad they couldn't have played longer. Their songs were originals and they sounded pretty good. The lead singer was pretty unique," said a fan at the show. After May Chamber's shortened performance, My Olde Habit came out at about 10:45 and played until 12:30 a.m. "Clearly their best performance yet," said a fan that has attended most of their shows. We had a lot of fun doing the gig," said Tony Treme, drummer. The number of students in attendance was about two hundred, but the band was expecting more. "We thought that since there is not much for underagers to do on campus, that we would have seen double the number of students that were there," said Luke Milne. "We are currently working on getting booked at Mercyhurst College for a band competition," claimed Bob Misulich, manager of My Olde Habit. "Irish Cousins', a bar in Lawrence Park wants us to play for their St. Patrick's Day celebration; it should be a good time!" College is a place where students should get to experience live bands, or any concerts for that matter. We want to give students an opportunity to "Barefoot" by Sarah Melchiorre Collegian Staff Behrend's studio theater has been a busy place since February 4. The studio has changed once again. Now it is a small apartment in New York City. It is the setting for Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park". When asked why the studio theatre is doing "Barefoot in the Park," Director Tony Elliot said, "1 don't think students know Neil Simon. I chose this play because the of age of the main characters and the life changes they are going through-the dltra conservative vs. the ultra liberal." The main characters in "Barefoot in the Park" are Cory and Paul. Cory is played by Conchita, a 06 accounting major. "Doing the play is a lot of hard work. We rehearse six days a week. The cast is great to work with, we're always laughing and joking around-sometimes it's non-productive but we get by," said Conchita. Paul is played by Matt Milroth, an accounting major. "Conchita and Matt are doing excellent, and the supporting actors are doing well," proclaimed Elliot. The play centers around a conservative lawyer who marries a liberal woman after knowing her only a short while. After a huge fight (which is a big overreaction) the couple separates. Do the couple get back together-go and see. Opening night for "Barefoot in the Park" is March 27. fey uir Is Page 9
