The gift is a free and cordial invitation given by The Loysville Debating Society to the ladies above mentioned to attend the society on Wednesday evening of Jan. 1st. 1879 When the following question will be discussed ; Resolved That drunkenness is more destructive to the human family than war. Yours Respectfully. R. W. D. Sec. Cumberland County. We copy the fol lowing from the Cumberland county papers of last week : Daniel Drawbaugh, of Lower Alien township, this country, is the inventor of a perpetual clock, which, by utilizing magnetism as a dynamic force, has been ticking away without winding for four or five years, and is said to show no disposition to stop before Its parts are worn out by friction. Just after the departure of the train West from Harrisburg on Saturday evening, an'd in the temporary absence of Mr. James Clark and bis clerks from the Cumberland Valley road office, the office door was forced and the ticket money drawer pried open. The thief got away with twenty dollars. He is probably the same man who robbed the Newville depot as the deed was accom plished in exactly the same style. Vlck's Floral Guide. Each atom immediately sends down through the water what appears to be a bright greeu rootlet ) and the tumbler soon looks as If it were crowed full of beauti ful plants. The rootlets now begin to enlarge, spread and combine, nntll we have a mass of soft green-colored liquid. Viewed by trans mitted light, the color changes to a bright golden or amher hue while a combination of green and gold will be realised, accordlug to the position la which the glass is held.
