Welcome Wagon members cook a dinner for sponsors by Susan Back The Mount Joy Welcome Wagon Club honored their sponsors with a dinner prepared by the members on November 19, 1975, at the Florin Fire Hall, at 6:30 p.m. The guest speakers for the evening were Rev. Donald Whitesel, pastor of St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Mount Joy and a member of the Mount Joy Library Board and, Mr. Warren Hayman, teacher at Donegal School District and a mem- ber of the Playground Board. The following sponsors attended the event and were presented with certificates from the International Wel- come Wagon for their past years of service to the club and community. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sloan - Sloan’s Pharmacy, 16 years; Betty Kling - Ginder Cleaners, 13 years, and our newer spons- ors - Mr. and Mrs. John Brubaker Stonebridge Farms; Sharon Blough and Faye Anspaugh - Clearview Lanes; Mrs. Getz—Shenk’s Bridal Shop. The following sponsors were unable to attend but certificates were forwarded to them. Sandy and Vicki’s Beauty Salon, 16 years; Baum’s Bologna, 13 years; and Baker’s Phillip’s 66, 16 years, Susquehanna Bulletin, 16 years; and Watt & Shands, 13 years. The Christmas Bazaar was a success. Ruth Moore and Judy Novinger did a lot of the work. The New York trip will soon be here, those who have reservations will meet at the Grandview School at 5:45 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. Please contact Barbara Banks, Cherie Dillow, or Nancy Penkunas before December 1 if you are planning to attend. The club members are invited to go caroling at the Schock Nursing Home, Friday, December 5 at 10 a.m. There are more craft and service days planned for the home so if you are interested in either of these events contact Judy Nov- inger, Community Service. The social event for the month of December will be our Christmas Dinner- Dance to be held Thursday, December 18 at 7:30 p.m., at the Hilton Inn, Lancaster. No reservations are neces- sary. The next craft meeting will be held at Ruth Moore’s, Thursday, Dec- ember 11, at 8 p.m. Christmas ornaments will be made. Contact Ruth for details. Gerald and Eleanor Boyer will present sacred music On Sunday, November 30, Gerald and Eleanor Boyer will present a concert of sacred music at the First Presbyterian Church, 7 Marietta St., Mount Joy, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Many area choirs have sung their compositions which are firmly rooted in the scrip- tural concept music. Gerald and Eleanor’s beautiful voices blend in some of the most delightful and moving duets to be heard anywhere, many of which are their own works. Hearing them is a unique experience in doxological music! November 26, 1975 Yvonne and Frederick Robinson at St. Mark’s by Marilyn J. Strominger Director of Choral Music A vocal concert will be presented by Yvonne and Frederick Robinson of Lan- caster on Sunday, Novem- ber 30 at 4:00 p.m., at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. Being the first Sunday in Advent, a series of Christmas songs will be presented, one Christmas song cycled by Alec Rowley and an ar- rangement of ‘‘O Holy Night.” Music by Purcell, Mozart, Berlioz, and Puccini will also be sung along with several duets. Yvonne Robinson has appeared in oratorio, recital and opera. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Cedar Crest College where she studied with Frederick Robinson. In New York City she coached with Paul Berl of Harvard University and the Manhat- tan School, and with Mar- shall Williamson of the Metropolitan Opera Studio, and earned her Master of Music degree with a major in voice from the Manhatten School of Music. Frederick Robinson, Di- rector and Co-founder of the Lancaster Opera Workshop, received his vocal and operatic training at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and in New York. He has performed in concerts, recital, oratorio and opera in various parts of the United States. For many years, he was a member of the music staff at Muhlen- berg College, where he also directed the opera work- shop. He is now on the faculty of Cedar Crest College. During the last twenty-two years he has produced a total of forty different operas in Lancas- ter, Allentown, Camp Bea- verbrook, and Wilmington, Delaware. the first day for cashing Christmas Club checks.
