The pumpkins are coming! And they’re just in time for Halloween. But these are not just ordinary pumpkins. Miss Aurick’s fifth grade students at Riverview Ele- mentary School took part in a pumpkin decorating con- test. The participants used construction paper to trans- form their pumpkins in to characters pertinent to the Revolution and the early years of our country. Although it is difficult to get a pumpkin to look like a real character from history, the students achieved a note of authenticity through details of hair and costuming. All the work was done in class in the students’ spare time. Judging the contest were Miss Heisey, art teacher, and Mr. Lawrence, princi- pal. First place winner is Richard Zink. Second place went to Peter Bashare. Stacy Nagle won the third place ribbon. The winning pumpkins are a minuteman, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Hen- ry. The pumpkins are on display in the lobby. graduate was a member of York Little Theatre's winter production of Cabaret while a senior at Donegal, was a member of the dramatics club, participated in the senior class play, the cho- rus, county chorus, and was in the state chorus when a junior at York High School.
