No. 1 to order. I'he minutes were read and approved. Chief Frank Good repor- ted 4 fire calls for the month of August. Three calls were in the borough and one in Rapho Township. An average of 28 men respon- ded to each fire call. Damage for the month was listed at $19,200.00. Fire- men saved $38,800.00. The department has answered 41 fire calls since January Ist. George Hedrick reported the Lancaster County Fire- men’s Association will meet September 19 at Willow Street. Jim Markley reported on the Zone 7 meeting. Under deferred business, it was noted that Fire Prevention Week is from October 5-11. Friendship voted to kick off the week with a program on October 4. Plans will be announced at a later date. Under new business, Dennis Fackler presented two possible company sym- bols designed by Jim Phillips. The symbol, chosen by vote, will appear on letterheads and patches. Thanks again to Jim Phil- lips. The company also voted to continue the news- letter sent out by Dennis Fackler each year to com- pany members. The news- letter tells the events of the past year and serves as a “*dues’’ notice. A brochure telling the history, services, and offi- cers of Friendship Fire Co. No. 1 will be made available to the public by the end of the month. Don Snyder noted that the annual auction will be held Thursday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. Abe Schaffner will be the auctioneer.
