N. of Marietta on Rt. 441 Phone 426-3411 Last week’s problem Dear Editor: Ihave a problem on which I need help. Maybe your readers can tell me what to do. I have three teenage children. They have many friends, and there is a constant flow of kids in and out of our house (and our refrigerator and bread box, I might add). Our ‘‘open house’’ attitude makes these youngsters feel at home here and they act like members of the family. I believe that this is a good atmosphere for teenagers. I prefer having my own children being at home, and liking it, as much as possible. My problem is that one of these teenage friends has been stealing money from us. Money in rather large This week’s problem No one seems to have any problems this week. At least, no one sent us a problem. Maybe the cooler weather kept everyone happy. If you have a problem our readers can help you solve, send a letter to the Bulletin. amounts (approximately $50) has disappeared from my older son’s bureau and from my purse. It could only have been taken by someone quite familiar with our home. I am convinced that no one in my own family is responsible. In fact, I am almost entirely certain about the identity of the thief. He is a neighbor, the child of good friends of mine, and worst of all, my older son’s best friend. What should I do? I can’t “lock up’’ our entire house to prevent further thefts. It does not seem sensible to mention my strong suspi- cions to any of the people involved — the ‘thief’, his parents, or my son. What should I do? A Puzzled Mother Renew your subscription The Bulletin has mailed subscription renewal notices to readers whose subscrip- tions have expired. Most readers whom we notified have renewed their subscriptions, but a few have not. We urge readers whom we have notified to renew their subscriptions promptly so that they will not miss receiving future issues of the Bulletin. Change our name? Dear Editor: Let me cast my vote to retain the name of the Susquehanna Bulletin. Agnes G. O’Brien I think the suggested change to ‘‘Donegal Bulletin’ is a good one. Mrs. R. W. Roberts I for one, vote against the name change, for the simple reason the ‘‘everything’’ is Donegal. (School, Indus- tries, Twp., Ins., Springs, etc.) What's wrong with Susquehanna? Who knows, maybe sometime your circu- lation will include Sunbury as well as any other town along the Susquehanna. Also, three name changes in a year is just a little to much. Bed Wetting Problem In answer to the problem of the child having ‘“‘accidents’’ and wetting the bed, a child should never be punished for ‘‘accidents.” Just calmly clean him up; ask him to tell you next time (which he probably won't) § . and forget it. Punishing him just makes this problem worse. Arlene W. Houck absorber recommended by SUSQUEHANNA BULLETIN-Page 11 How would you solve this problem? Solution to problem Dear Puzzled Mother: Once I had an uncle who accused his nephew of taking a war bond. He was so sure his nephew (who had run of the house) had taken his bond, he went to the local Post Office and banks, to inform them if said nephew tried to cash the bond, it was stolen. Need I say, the war bond was found much later--when the bureau drawer in which it was kept was pulled the whole way out--there was the bond where it had slipped. Whether you like it or not YOU are partly responsible for the atmosphere created in your home, such as what is mine is also yours. There are courtesies every person should know when visiting someone else’ home AND if these courtes- ies aren’t used, then said person should be told in a kind manner, leaving no doubt to the imagination. Accusations are hard to live down, so before you damage someone’s reputa- tion, have proof. Set a trap for the guilty party. Remember all children like guide lines, SO MAKE SOME.
