June 11, 1975 177 graduates at Newton Kendig Jeff Sheetz One hundred and seventy-seven Donegal High School seniors re- ceived diplomas last Tuesday at commencement. Two students received six awards each. Mary Alice Heilman won the Charles J. Bennet College Preparatory award; the English award; the G. Walter Sloan Science award; the Valedictorian award; the Bausch & Lomb Science award; and a Commended National Merit Scholarship certificate. William A. Landis won the Donegal Mutual Insur- ance Company Mathematics award; a Math Association of America pin; the Delta Mu Sigma award; a wrestling award plaque; and a senior athletic award. Landis also was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. AWARDS Students receiving five awards each included: Ramona Ann Sell, who won the Ramon A. Sell Music Memorial award; the Charles W. Donald L. Witman won the John Philip Sousa award; the Marietta Community Chorus award; a Distinguished Musician cer- tificate; and a Dramatics Club award. Three awards were pre- Dean Buchenauer, who won the Donegal Indian Math Tutor Organization certificate; the Armstrong Laboratory Associatin Merit Award for Technical and Scientific Excellence; and the Ramon A. Sell Memorial Scholar- ship award. Sharon Grissinger won a senior athletic award. A Donegal Booster Club’s School Spirit award; and the Mount Joy Joycee-ettes Athletic award. Another triple winner was Brian Lesher, who won the Donegal Dramatics Club Distinguished Service award; a Dramatics Club award; and the Jeffrey Leif Haines Memorial award. NURSE AWARDS Future Nurse Club awards were presented to: Marlene Hess, Janis Brown, Christine Erb, Gloria Fready Zink, and Phyllis Splain. Dramatics Club awards were presented to: William Zimmerman, Wayne Betty, Helene Dalkiewicz, Francis ress Frere re Ramona Sell William A. Landis Eno, Rebecca Germer, Debra Werner, Gary Graybill, Rose Livelsberger, Marcia Weidman, and Jacqueline Howell. Also winning Dramatics Club awards were: Pam Horst, Selisa Stauffer, Timothy Eshleman, Maureen Jones, Ray Westafer, and Robert Shank. Wrestling award plaque winners included: James Warfel, Tony Barry Bixler, Paul Lauver, Cary Albright, Jeffrey Rukl, and Richard Daveler. Winners of senior athletic awards were the following: Wayne Betty, Richard Daveler, Stanley Frey, Raymond Husband, Paul Lauver, Michael Moyer, Douglas Mueller, Randy Richards, Jeffrey Ruhl, David Scholsser, James Warfel, and John Weidman. Others who were presen- ted senior athletic awards included: Patricia‘ Brown, Pam Horst, Ann Houseal, Kim Laughlin, Andrea McCue, Janet Sauder, Sheri Zerphey. DOUBLE AWARDS Several students received double awards, including: Philip Houseal, who won the Donald S. Staley Memorial Scholarship award and a senior athletic awards: Maureen T. Jones was presented the Salutatorian award and an American Classical League Certificate of Merit. Scott Stark won an AMS Proficiency Certificate for math and a Senior Athletic Award. Sheri L. Zerphey was presented with the Mount Joy Lions Club award and the Lancaster County Bankers Association Future Business Leaders of America award. Other award winners included; Judith R. Morton. who won the Business Education award; Phyllis Marie Loump, Practical Arts Award; Eileen N. Grimm won the Vocational Techni- cal award. Patricia Brown was awarded the Mount Joy Business and Professional Women’s Club Scholarship. The Robert B. Hoffman Engineering award was presented to Mark Presnell. The Clerical award was presented to Jody Marie Ney. Michael Sweeney won the Urban League of Lancaster County Inc. Youth award. SERVICE AWARDS Christine Erb won the New Holland Community Service award. Marlene Kay Hess was another double winner. She won the Farm and Home Foundation of Lancaster County Scholarship; and an American Youth Foundation Citizenship award. The Mount Joy Joycee- ettee Scholarship was awarded to Jayne B. Greiner. John P. Weidman won the Pioneer Hi-Bred, Inc. College Scholarship award. Judy Keller won a Donegal Booster Club’s School Spirit award. The Charles W. Heaps Memorial Tennis Trophy was pre- sented to David Schlosser. Sonya Smith was named the outstanding typist in the senior class. DENNIS MCNECE Ft. Riley, Kan. (ATHNC) May 20--Army Specialist Five Dennis C. McNece, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman C. McNece, 33 East High St., Maytown, Pa., completed a cooking course here. He learned how to pre- pare and serve food in Army dining halls and in the field. Jennings flies again Barbara Fellenbaum Jen- nings will participate in another speed race for light airplanes on July Fourth. This will be the 28th Powder Puff Derby which follows a 2,591 mile course through Phoenix, Arizona, Boyne Falls, Michigan, and points in between.
