N N » ¥ Y h- 3 Deaths 7s lrg, BARBARA S. WADE Mrs. Barbara S. Wade, 86 of Mount Joy RI, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 4 a.m. at Conestoga View after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Galen Wade. She was a member of Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church. Born in Milton Grove, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Barbara Sheetz Gibble. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Chester Wade, Sandusky, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grand- children. She also is survived by three brothers, Enos Gibble, Mount Joy; Isaac Gibble, Elizabethtown, and Harry Gibble, Colebrook. Services were held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5, from the Lancaster Brethren in Christ church and burial was made in Silver Spring cemetery. ELIZABETH C. FLETCHER Miss Elizabeth C. Flet- cher, 73, of 100 E. High St., Maytown, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at St. Joseph hospital after an illness of several months. She was a guest of the Hamilton Arms Inc. for a week and a half. Born in Maytown, she was a daughter of the late Abram and Catherine O. Shields RETIRING (Continued from Page 1) the Donegal Mutual Insurance company. He also is secretary-treasurer and general manager of the Marietta Gravity Water company and is serving as president of a four-company insurance affiliation, United Mutual Underwriters. Long a civic leader in the area, he has served on numerous boards and commissions. Dr. Landis, who was first elected to the school board in the fall of 1971, practices medicine in Columbia and lives on Columbia R1. He is a graduate of Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia is a member of the staff at Lancaster General Hospital and of St. Joseph hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of General Practice. The board also re-elected as vice-president Dale Arnold, who has Served in that capacity for the past Fletcher. Prior to her retirement in 1970, she was employed as an office payroll clerk with the Cardinal Cotton Inc. Coatesville for many years. She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Maytown, and of the Maytown Fire Company Auxiliary and the Golden Age Club of Maytown. She is survived by a sister, Lillian, wife of Harold Angle, Maytown. Services were held Wednesday morning from the Miller funeral home, Bainbridge, and burial was made in the Maytown Union cemetery. MRS. KATHARINE ADOLPH Word has been received here of the death on October 29, at Richmond Ind., of Mrs. William H. (Katharine Witmer) Adolph. Memorial services were held at Richmond with the Rev. Stephen Tsai, formerly of Yewching University, Peking, China, officiating. Basketball Booster Club Selects Etsell President At a recent meeting of the Donegal Basketball Booster club, the following officers were elected: President — Barry W. Etsell; president — .Mrs. Gerald Miller; secretary — Mrs. George McCue and treasurer — William F. Barto. A special meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17, in the high school cafeteria, to be held im- mediately following the varsity game. At that time, arrangements for the tournament will be finalized. The organization will be assisting the school in staging a Holiday Basketball Tournament at the high school gym on December 26 and 27. In addition to the Donegal team, Hempfield, Manheim Central and Eastern high schools will also be’ par- ticipating. Two games ‘will be held each night, and following the games the Booster club will be featuring the Donegal boys and the visiting teams in the cafeteria. The club extends its thanks to the community for making the recent shoo-fly pie sale a success. A total of 480 pies were sold. vice Survivors include four children and 15 grand- children. No Action Despite Worries Concerning Emergency Lights Despite worried words of concern about a continuing touchy emergency lighting problem in Friendship Fire company’s second-floor assembly hall, Mount Joy Borough Council took no action Monday night. Councilmen raised words of deep concern about the lighting system which is called “inadequate.” Responsibility and in- surance of the borough in case of disaster were discussed with regard to regular use of the hall each Wednesday night by as many as 100 people. The system in question is required to give adequate lighting in case the normal power supply fails. One councilman said that the system is no worse than it has been for several years.
