Martin, 61, who died in a spec- tacular Saturday af- ternoon accident on Road 230 near Clearview Bowling Lanes, were held Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 25. Rites were con- ducted from the Heilig funeral home and burial was made in the Mount Tunnel ceme- tery, She suffered critical in- juries about 4:25 p.m. when the car she was driving west, alse occupied by two grandchildren, was smashed into by an Elizabethtown police cruiser. The car, driven by Cpl. Bruce H. Slonaker, 26, was traveling east enroute to answer a call for assistance at another traffic accident near the Old Harrisburg Pike underpass, just west of Mount Joy. Mrs. Martin, who lived at 48A W. She is survived by two sons: John David Martin, Elizabethtown R2, and James Lee Martin, Elizabethtown R1; three daughters: Dorothy Louise, wife of Roy K. McMaster, Bainbridge R1; Peggy Joann, wife of James E. Geesey, Marietta; Barbara Ann, wife of David J. Seifert, at home. The fatal accident series began when Valerie Swinehart, 16, Elizabethtown R1, was in- jured as her car hit a guard rail. She was taken to Lancaster jn an ambulance. A Mount Joy police patrolman investigated that crash. A call for additional - officers at the scene was made and Cpl. Slonaker was answering. His car skidded at high speed on a rain- soaked pavement, swung into the opposite traffic lane and crashed with Mrs. Martin’s Vehicle. Slonaker and Mrs. Mar- tin’s two small grandsons, Michael and Samuel Paris, 7 and 8, Bainbridge. all were injured and taken to a Lancaster hospital. Rheems, Mount Joy and Elizabethtown ambulances were called to the scene.
