For one thing, they now have a 1974 football victory tied to their belts, sporting a 9-6 win over Lampeter- Strasburg, claimed Saturday night in Lancaster-Lebanon league play. And, this week the Tribe stands undefeated in loop competition, tied, per- centagewise, with Penn Manor, Annville-Cleona and Manheim Central with perfect loop records. The first three, however, have two wins each against the Indians’ single (the only league contest they have played to date). The Donegals scored in the second and fourth. A field goal by Former Donegal Coach Al Brook’s son, Al, who booted from the 26-yard line came in the second. Then, about mid-way of the finale, after the Pioneers had gone ahead on a 71-yard touchdown drive, Brooks passed to Randy Richards for a 65-yard play into the end zone. This is how it looked by quarters: Donegal- 0 3 069 Lamp.-Stras.- 0 0 0 6-6 This week, Donegal meets Elco, playing on the Indian field Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2 p.m. Elco, twice beaten in L-L play holds a quarter share of last place with Garden Spot, Cocalico and Lam- peter-Strasburg. Elco’s Raiders bowed last weekend to Penn Manor, 12- 7. A year ago, Donegal suffered a 19-14 defeat from Elco. Braves ‘A’ Team Takes First Fall The Donegal Braves Midget football ‘B’ team got back on the win track when they recorded a 12-0 victory over Manor Ridge on the loser’s field Sunday, Sept. 22. After a scoreless first half, Donegal got started as Steve Butz bolted 62 yards for the score. Steve Neal, Frank Bromer, and Steve Meszaros supplied the offensive fireworks as Donegal kept the pressure on. The defense, led by Jeff Kauffman and Coug Bernard who both recovered fumbles, were ably assisted by Jeff Duke, Craig Lehman, Phil Landis and Darin Kolp as they completely stopped their opponents’ rushing game. Late in the game, a Butz-to- Neal pass for 17 yards resulted in some insurance points and Donegal finished a 12-0 victor. The ‘A’ team, which was undefeated, met its match at Manor Ridge and suffered a thumping 28-0 loss. The offense, led by Brian Ney, Darryl Shank, Mitch Johnson and Joe Butz, was Guidance Department At DHS To Hold Parents’ Night The guidance department of Donegal high school will hold a meeting for parents of junior and senior class students on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Donegal high school auditorium. The purpose of the meeting is an exchange of in- formation and ideas relative to future planning. Students are welcome to attend with their parents. Meanwhile, the defense, anchored by Randy Derr, Eric Gerlitzki, Mark Smedley, Tom Weber and Rick Gordner, were being clobbered by the power- packed running game of their opponents. Scott Jones and Tom Weber each recovered fumbles but there were few bright spots for the ‘A’ team. It is worth men- tioning, however, that Manor Ridge’s team was made up, for the most part, of the 1973 championship ‘B’_squad. The ‘C’ team got back on the right foot as they scored a 140 victory in a well- played game. The defense once again was the key as Darrel Risberg, Billy Dishart, Jim Perry, John Ott and Steve Hecker held their New Monthly Installment Savings Plan AVAILABLE DURING OCTOBER SHORTER MATURITIES ‘NOW PAYING ) Interest COMPOUNDED SEMI-ANNUALLY Ask About Our Installment Way to Save MOUNT JOY BUILDING & LOAN ASSN. Todd Butz in the secondary, chipped in with two pass interceptions, when Manor Ridge was forced to go to the air. The offense, headed up by Butz, Marty Harmes, Tom Lucabaugh and Ron Kennedy, provided the fireworks with quite a few spectacular plays. With less than 30 seconds in the half, a beautiful Butz- to-Kennedy pass play covering 37 yards gave Donegal a 6-0 lead. Butz ran a ‘keeper’ around the end for the point-after. In the third quarter, Butz scooted 31 yards on a busted pass play and the score. Lucabaugh plunged over for the PAT and when time ran out Donegal had a solid 14-0 victory. The Braves will be at home on the DHS field Sunday, the 29th, as they host Hempfield at 1 p.m. The Braves will be out to keep their division title hopes alive with three more victories. 17-6¢
