Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Roaten, Stockton, N. J. visited the Robert Roatens last Thursday. Mrs. Hiram Mayers con- tinues to be a patient in St. Joseph’s hospital. Byers Hess, Hagers- town, Maryland Brethren in Christ church were visitors at the Maytown Brethren in Christ church, Maytown last Sunday. December 15, the Young Adults of the above church will have their Christmas par- ty and dinner at the Willow Valley Motel restaurant. A Christmas Cantata will be presented at the same church Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. On Dec. 24 at 10:15 am. the Young People’s Class will hold a service at Lehman’s Rest Home, Rheems. On Tuesday evening, Dec. 5 the Girl Scout Troop 24 of East Donegal Township pre- sented a flag ceremony at the Maytown Elementary School. The color guard was Karen Gable, Jennifer Schart, Sandy Emenheiser, and Tisha Bar- nitz, After repeating the Pledge of Allegiance and the G.rl Scout Promise, the scouts sang “Through Scouting,” Cindy Prowell then introduc- ed Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Say- lor who presented an arm- chair hike of wild flowers through the seasons by show- ing slides. It was entitled “This Enchanted World.” There will be Carol Servic- es Dec. 24 at 7.30 p.m. at both St. John’s Lutheran church and the United Church of Christ. A Pageant will also be presented at the latter church. Sharon Welcomer celebrat- ed her 8th birthday anniver- sary last Sunday. She was fe- ted with a party. Donald Welcomer -celebrat- ed his birthday anniversary on Monday, Dec. 13. It has been reported that someone is at their old tricks of stealing Christmas light bulbs again. Just what kind of person would delight in mar- ring Christmas decorations the first night they have been I'ghted? They don’t stop at taking 1 or 2 bulbs. There have been as many as 40 at one home and 80 at another. Clarence (Bill) Johnston who lived in Chicago, died last Saturday from a heart attack while shoveling snow. He was a former resident of town and a brother of James (Jim) Johnstin, The Fire Co. answered two ambulance calls last week to automobile accidents. Mrs. George Hicks and children, Lititz, spent last Sunday with Mrs. May Hicks. Cameron Mansion Site Of BPW Club Meeting The Mount Joy Business & Professional Women’s Club held its monthly meeting at the Cameron Mansion Mon- day, Dec. 11, with the music and social committee in charge of the program. Susan Schlosser, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Schlos- ser, Main Street, was intro- duced by Mrs. Earl Koser as Girl of the Month for Decem- ber. Special guest, Mrs. Mary Lou Herr, assistant district di- rector, was introduced by Mrs. Benjamin Horst, presi- dent. Hazel Baker introduced the entertainment for the evening, the Martin Meylin Handbell Ringers from Lampeter-Stras- burg under the direction of Virgil Cooper. There was a carol sing and a surprise visit from Santa Claus. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Horst. The music and social com- mittee includes Hazel Baker, Chairman: Thelma Way, Bar- bara Hollinger, Evelyn Stauf- fer, Miriam Lenhart, Esther Walters, and Ethel Broske. ANNUAL CHILDREN'S PROGRAM AT ST. MARK'S The Children’s department of St. Mark’s United Metho- dist church will be presenting its annual Christmas Program in the Sanctuary of the Church on Sunday evening, Dec. 17, beginning at 6:30 p. m. Songs, recitations, group ex- ercises and special selections highlight the Christmas mes- sage. Children of Kindergart- en age through the Junior de- partment (Grade 6) will have parts in the program. There also will be congregational participation. After the program, the chil- dren and parents will enjoy a time of refreshment and fel- lowship.
