Kenneth Strominger, Jr., shot a Canadian goose last week. A group of 79 men were as- signed to them. Bingo was played, prizes were awarded and refreshments were serv- ed. There were men from World Wars I and II, the Korean and Vietnam conflict. Paul Peiffer, a former res- ident of Maytown died unex- pectedly at his home at Col- umbia R2 recently. Prior to his retirement July, 1970 he served as principal of the Herbert Hoover Elementary school, Harrisburg for fifteen years and the Sara Linde- muth Elementary school for 2 years. When he ¢ved in this area he taught at Bain- bridge. Both the St. John’s Luth- eran church and the United Church of Christ will observe Harvest Home Sunday. He swam the 50 yard freestvle in 24.5 sec- onds to better a 10 year old record bv 4 tenths of a sec- ond. His 38.9 seconds for the 100 meter freestyle broke a 1965 record by 4 tenth of a second. His other two records were 28.6 seconds in the fifty yard backstroke and 320 sec- onds in the 50 meter back- stroke, Jim qualified for the Jun- ior Olympic Regional champ- ionship held in Pittsburgh earlier this year and finished second in the 100 meter back stroke and 3rd in the 100 me- ter freestyle In the AAU competition, Jim swam with the Starlit Aquatic Club of Fairfax, Va. He works out every morning and evening for a total of 3 hours and practices with his high school team on Saturday and Sunday when he isn't competing in AAU events.
