Bruce Kline, police chief, said this week that there was very very little trouble in the community during the past two weeks. The youngsters, and the not-so- young youngsters, were on their good behavior, and at a time in the year which is most favored for van- dalism, there was practically none. In fact, the chief mentioned that he had seen very very little soaping of windows —one of the minor pranks of the season. At times during the Halloween sea- son, officers would work a combina- tion walking-riding type patrol thru the town. One officer in a police car would drop another man off in a neighbor- hood and drive away. The man left on foot would then walk a few blocks, looking, watching, checking and, perhaps more to the point, being seen. In a few minutes the cruiser would circle back and and pick up his buddy. The action would be repeated in another section of town and then another and then another. Mount Joy has had, this fall, some rather serious incidents of vandalism, ‘but they were considerably in ad- vance of Halloween — some even a month or more before the usual trouble time. Keeping Halloween to a minimum deserves commendation to all con- cerned — the police, the parents, the youngsters of the community and to whatever influence it is in Mount Joy which combines to make this a good town in which to live. Youth Meeting On Fridav evening Nov. 6 St. Mark’s TTiited Methodist church will be the menting nlace for anv and 211 vouth from the church and commu- nity. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. an exciting program will in- clude the music of Arnold Moshier and ‘The Choraliers’, a group of college young peo- ple who sing gosoel and folk music to the Glory of Ged. Young people also will have a chance to meet infor- mally with Guest Missioner Rev. C. Lin Henderson, who has been directing nightly teen-time sessions through- final event in a week of New out the week. The Teenarama will be the final event in a week of New Life Mission endeavors. Youth will have an opportunity to meet with other youth, share in Christian witness, and join together in refreshments. These passes can be picked up at the high school office. If you are unable to go to the school call 653-1871. Halloween was very quiet in Maytown this year. Soap- ing of windows was at a min- imum. Because of inclement wea- ther there was no Element- ary School Halloween parade last Friday afternoon. This was only the third time in 29 years weather did not permit a parade. The costume judging as- sembly and the parties con- tinued as scheduled. In grades 1, 2, and3 the fol- lowing were chosen to be the winners by the judges: Prettiest, Kim Derr, grade 1, room 2A.
