Manheim, and welding shop owner, died at St. Joseph's hospital at 7:30 p.m. Satur- day, May 30, after an illness of one year. A resident of 212 S. Bar- bara St., he was 49 years old. He was employed by Ful- ler Co. the last 25 years and also operated the Bair Weld- ing Shop for the past 10 years. a Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Benjamin Ellsworth and Elsie Lodge Bair. He was a member of St. Mark’s EUB Church, Mount Joy, Friendship Fire Co. 1, of Mount Joy, Conoy Gun Club of Bainbridge, Renovo Gun Club, Bainbridge Island Club -- and the Supervisors Assn. of Manheim. He was formerly Scout- master of © Troop 39, Mount Joy. Survivors include his wid- ow, Mildred Gainer Bair, three daughters, Dixie Lee, of Lancaster; Bonnie Lou- ise, wife of Charles Wise, of Mount Joy, and Doris Faye, at home; the these brothers and sisters, Ellsworth, Balti- more; John, Sherman, Daisy, wife of William Ebersole, and Victor Max, all of Bain- bridge; Lottie, wife of John Kirkpatrick, Middletown; Ada, wife of Edward Shaef- fer, Lancaster, and Ralph, of Elizabethtown. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 2, from Nis- sley funeral home and burial was made in Conestoga Mem- orial park cemetery, Lancas- ter. TEAFORD B. SHIFFLETT Teaford B. Shifflett, thirty, 212 N. Railroad St., Palmyra drowned in the Susquehanna river at Lapidum, Md., while fishing Sunday, May 31. State Police said Shifflett waded into the river to un- snag a fishing line and ap- parently stepped into a hole and drowned. His body was recovered three hours later. Shifflett was among a fish- ing party of seven including two brothers, Raymond and Harry, both of Mount Joy. His wife Diane was discharg- ed from the hospital Sunday after giving birth to a still- born child prematurely on Friday.
