Warnock, president of Armstrong Cork Company has been elected a member of the board of directors of Pennsylvania Power & Light Company, effective M. J. Warnock 1, 1964, it is announced by Chas. E. Oakes, PP&L board chairman and chief executive officer. Warnock’s election fills the vacancy created by the resig- nation, effective Dec. 31, of Jesse B. Warriner, whose 35 years of PP&L directorship is considered a record in the electric industry. Oakes said that the board's nomination of the Armstrong Cork executive is in line with PP&L’s policy of seek- ing outstanding business and professional leaders, largely from the company’s service area for its directorships. Emphasis is placed on having the majority of the board from the service area, Oakes said, in keeping with the loc- al nature of the utility’s busi- ness. She outlined six major elements of the new design: ethical code, service, troup management, citizenship, in- ternational friendship, and health and safety. This new design will give the Girl Scouts a balanced program in Arts, Homes and Outdoor living, she said. Lloyd Derr, president of the club presided. Two guests were introduced. The club will present its annual play during the week of April 20. This play is en- titled “Plain Betsy’. The or- iginal “Plain Betsy’ was produced last about 2 years ago at the Mount Gretna Playhouse. The play this year will have a new look and a new version. Part of the profit of this play has been earmarked for the future “Mount Joy Free Library’.
