PPL Names
Warnock
NewDirector
M. J. Warnock, president
of Armstrong Cork Company
has been elected a member
of the board of directors of
Pennsylvania Power & Light
Company, effective
M. J. Warnock
1, 1964, it is announced by
Chas. E. Oakes, PP&L board
chairman and chief executive
officer.
Warnock’s election fills the
vacancy created by the resig-
nation, effective Dec. 31, of
Jesse B. Warriner, whose 35
years of PP&L directorship
is considered a record in the
electric industry.
Oakes said that the board's
nomination of the Armstrong
Cork executive is in line
with PP&L’s policy of seek-
ing outstanding business and
professional leaders, largely
from the company’s service
area for its directorships.
Emphasis is placed on having
the majority of the board
from the service area, Oakes
said, in keeping with the loc-
al nature of the utility’s busi-
ness. In this way, the direct-
trainee in the floor division.

To Lions Club
At the
meeting of

Tuesday night
the Mount Joy
Lions Club, Mrs. Warren
Foley spoke on. the subject
“New Design for Girl Scout-
ing’. She outlined six major
elements of the new design:
ethical code, service, troup
management, citizenship, in-
ternational friendship, and
health and safety.
This new design will give
the Girl Scouts a balanced
program in Arts, Homes and
Outdoor living, she said.
Lloyd Derr, president of
the club presided. Two guests
were introduced.
The club will present its
annual play during the week
of April 20. This play is en-
titled “Plain Betsy’. The or-
iginal “Plain Betsy’ was
produced last about 2 years
ago at the Mount Gretna
Playhouse.
The play this year will
have a new look and a new
version. Part of the profit of
this play has been earmarked
for the future “Mount Joy
Free Library’.
HOME FOR VACATION
Kenneth Brubaker, a stu-
dent at Penn State univer-
sity, spent the Christmas va-
cation with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Brubaker,
230 Park avenue, Mount Joy.

In 1933, he was named assist-
ant manager of the division,
and in 1941 he became assist-
ant general sales manager of
the floor division and later,
the director of advertising
and promotion. He was elect-
ed treasurer of the company
in 1943, vice president in
1950, senior vice president
and a director in 1959, first
senior vice president in 1961
and executive vice president
in 1962. He was elected pres-
ident of Armstrong Cork in
‘July, 1962.
