Page 4—SUSQUEHANNA TIMES Sico Co. buys Mount Joy’s Garber Oil The Garber Oil Co., Mount Joy, has been purchased by the Mount Joy-based Sico Co., it was announced by the - Sico Company recently. Sico purchased the Garber com- pany from its owners, Robert and Richard Camp- bell. Garber Oil's twenty em- ployees will be retained, said Robert McGinly, Sico president. Garber distributes Texaco products and supplies gaso- line to about 15 area service stations and fuel oil to 1,700 local residential and com- mercial customers. Sico markets gasoline and fuel oil in 11 counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland. Their primary products are Citgo. Sico acquired the John G. Stumpf Co., an ARCO distributor based in Lancaster, last year. Amtrak eliminates five stops Five stops of the Amtrak trains runs between Phil- adelphi and Harrisburg will be eliminated at Mount Joy effective Sunday, October 26, the passenger train corporation announced last Thursday. Mount Joy will still be served by about ten trains in each direction. The cuts are due to low patronage, according to Amtrak. The stops to be eliminated are: to Harrisburg, train 605 (arriving in Mount Joy at 9:22 am), train 617 (arriving at 6:55 pm), and train 621 (arriving at 11:55 pm); to Philadelphia, train 604 (ar- riving at 7:22 am) and train 618 (arriving at 7:43 pm). National BPW week; October 19th to 25th James Gingrich, Mayor of Mount Joy, signed a proclamation last Thursday declaring the week of October 19 to 25 National Business Women’s Week. Member of the Mount Joy Business and Professional Women held a Sunday morning breakfast to ‘‘kick- off’ the National BPW activity. Women comprise over forty percent of the nation’s work force and contribute substantially to the econ- omy. Each year more and more qualified women are being placed in important policy-making positions in government, business and the professions. Since 1919 the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s clubs has worked toward its goal of promoting the interests of women in business and the professions. The Pennsyl- vania Federation of Bus- iness and Professional Wo- men’s clubs, a charter federation, is the largest of state organizations with almost 12,000 members in 214 clubs across the com- monwealth. Deriving its membership from such varied pro- fessions as doctors, clerks, nurses, secretaries, lawyers and entrepreneurs, the Pennsylvania Federation Donegal band records of BPW clubs work toward creating better conditions for women imthe business world by promoting co- operation, increasing em- ployment opportunities available to women, and sponsoring continuing ed- ucational and vocational programs.
