The rezoning would precede sale of the dwelling and adjacent land by the borough. touchdown. Council approved the appointment of a new member of the police force, David Presto, who has served on the Strasburg force and before that, part-time, on the Mount Joy force. Presto achieved a high standing on the civil service exam. Permission was granted by council to Eileen Hershey to open a physical fitness center for women in the Donegal Professional Build- ing at Donegal Springs Road across from the Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church. Ms. Hershey assured coun- cil that the center would not administer massages and that it would not be open Saturday afternoons or Sun- days. In addition to group exercises, the center will offer diet counselling, yoga, Indian running back Steve Bowman [#30] romps toward the goal line on the play that scored Donegal’s first and belly dancing. The center will be well insulated for sound. During the public hour a number of residents of Frank Street complained about commercial traffic on their street, including Grain trucks at night, using their street, creating disturbance and hazard to children. Residents of Mount Joy [continued on page 11] Indians upset E-town, 14-0 An awesome defensive effort gave Donegal High it’s second upset victory in as many games last Friday, as the Indians blanked E-town’s Bears 14-0. The real hero of the game was Indian Jeff Duke, a 200-pound linebacker who manuvers his muscular bulk with startling speed and intelligence. Duke led the defense with 7 unassisted tackles and S assists. Other outstanding per- formances were turned in by defensive tackle Phil Spick- ler and defensive end Scott Snyder. Spickler made 6 tackles, assisted with 2 others, recovered a fumble, and broke up a pass play by smothering Bear quarter- back Campbell in his own backfield. S year wait pays off for Mount Joy couple by Sandra Heisey Lancaster Red Cross In 1975S when the Indo- chinese came for resettle- ment to Fort Indiantown Gap, Timothy Mulwane of Mount Joy was eager to volunteer at the military reservation. Timothy, with his parents, Paul and Bernice Mulwane, went to the ‘““Gap’’ searching for Ha Tieu Diem, an Asian woman he had met through the Alaska Magazine, and with whom he had corresponded for over a year. Timothy hoped that his efforts to get Miss Ha out of Vietnam had resulted in her presence at Indiantown Gap. Such was not the case. Miss Ha was not among the refugees. Instead of giving up Timothy doubled his efforts in trying to procure a trip to the U.S. for Miss Ha. For two more years the letters between Timothy and Lillie, as he fondly called her, continued. Finally, in 1977, he received what seemed like several tons of papers to be completed in order to sponsor the _Vietnamese woman. Not knowing where to turn with the paper work, Timothy went to the Service to Military Families and Veterans Department of the Lancaster County Red Cross.
