August 20, 1980 Mr. and Mrs. Armor McKain 30 years of marriage celebrated by McKains Mr. and Mrs. Armor McKain, 620 West Market Street, Marietta, were hon- ored by their family at a surprise dinner party at Three Center Square, May- town, recently. The event was in observance of the couple’s fiftieth wedding anniversary. The couple was married August 16, 1930, by the late Reverend Musser in the United Church of Christ parsonage, Marietta. The couple has three sons: Harold, Marietta; Ronald, Mount Joy; and Jack Marietta. They also have 17 grandchildren and Donegal marching band six great-grandchildren. Armor, retired from the former Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown, enjoys gardening. His wife Helen has retired from the May- town Shoe Factory and enjoys housework, crafts, flowers and her grandchild- ren. Both natives of Marietta, Armor is the son of the late Mr.- and Mrs. Armor McKain and Helen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Marley. The couple attends the United Church of Christ, Marietta, where Helen is a member of the Women’s Guild. perfects football shows for fall presentations More than 150 persons attended Donegal Band Camp activities at Shippens- burg College last week; August 11 to 15. The band, which will perform for the first time this year on Friday, August 29, at the Columbia High School, perfected various selections for this fall’s football shows. Routines will include Alex- ander’s Ragtime Band, ““Corduba,’”” ‘““What 1 Did For Love’ and ‘‘Salute to the Promised Land.” Instructors for the 12th annual Band Camp were: Al Sacko, Boothwyn, PA, band drill instructor; Helena Sacko, Delaware, band front instructor; Stan Tucker, 1969 Donegal graduate, band front instructor; Gloria Foreman, 1972 Donegal grad, majorette coach; Wal- ter Foltz, Elizabethtown, drum instructor; Joe Coov- er, 1978 Donegal grad, drum instructor; and Holly Baker, 1977 Donegal grad, woodwind instructor. Erna Nissley serves as band front official, George- anne Westerman is color guard captain and Sherry Suter is head majorette and featured twirler. Officers of the 1980-81 band are: Tish Barnitz, president; Donna Hay, vice president; Sherry Frey, secretary - treasurer; and Kaye Wolgemuth, historian. Chaperones for the week- long event were Mr. and Mrs. Richard McKain, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hess, Mary Kershner and Helen Erb. Kathy Hart and Sharon Marley were camp nurses.
