Did You Hear? §§§ Nearly 4,700 undergrad- uates qualified for the Dean’s List at the University Park campus of The Penn- sylvania State University for the spring term, which ended in May. Steinhart, Box 239, R.D.#2, Mount Joy. §88 Karl W. Mylin, Marietta R.D.#1, is among the first group of students to be awarded a Penn State/York Scholarship, according to Dr. David R. Stewart, dean of student affairs at the campus. The scholarship honors full time undergrad- uate students who have achieved superior academic records, distinquished themselves by extracur- ricular involvement and service, and have document- ed financial need. It in- cludes $300 in scholarship aid. §8§ James Binkle, 175 Man- heim Street, Mount Joy, won first prize in the 1980 Classic Thunderbird Club International competition in Canton, Ohio, recently. Binkle competed against 108 other thunderbird restora- tionists to win the title. The 1957 two-seater was com- pletely restored by Binkle and two assistants over an eight month period. The car belongs to a local collector. Binkle’s Mount Joy shop is booked up for the next year and a half. He has won many major competitions, including 2 national prizes. §§8§ Marine Maj. Thomas D. Stouffer, son of Mrs. C.A. Hollinger of 30 Foreman Road, Elizabethtown, was graduated from the Naval War College recently. His wife, Deanna, is the daugh- ter of Mrs. R.D. Walker of 121 [East Main Street, Mount Joy. Stouffer is a 1962 grad- uate of Elizabethtown Area High School and a 1966 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., with a bachelor of science degree. §8§ J. Glenn Ebersole, Jr. J. Glenn - Ebersole, - Jr., P.E., chief transportation engineer for Huth Engi- neers Inc., Lancaster, is serving as the national technical program chairman for the SO0th Anniversary Meeting of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) to be held August 17-21 at the Pittsburgh’s William Penn Hotel. Eber- sole resides at R.D.#2, Manheim. As technical program chairman, Ebersole is re- sponsible for the general planning, the evaluation of technical abstracts, the selection of speakers and moderators, and coordina- tion of operations at the conference. ITE has over 6,000 members representing 70 countries. Approximately 1,200 members are expected to attend the conference which will feature 30 speakers from all parts of the U.S. and three foreign countries. Ebersole, who is a registered Proffesional En- gineer in PA and VT, has a B.S. degree in civil engi- neering and a Master of Engineering degree in engi- neering science, both from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Na- tional Society of Profession- al Engineers, and the Transportation Research Board. In 1980 he was included in the Who’s Who in the East publication and elected to the International Platform Association. He is also active in community, church and Masonic func- tions. §§§ Dr. Dale W. Garber, Mount Joy, is presenting Lebanon Valley College with the largest single gift ever given the school; $1.75 million. Garger, a 1918 graduate of LVC, practiced medicine in Philadelphia nad Lansdowne for 45 years before retiring to Mount Joy in 1978. He is a Mount Joy High School graduate. Gar- ber’s wife, the late Ellen Moyer Garger, also grad- uated from Lebanon Valley College. He lives with his sister, Esther Diffenderfer, at 725 Bruce Avenue. §§§ the Donegal Parents Booster Club will be offering reserved seating.
