The bride wore a white crepe gown overlaid with sheer moonbeam. The high neck and front and back yoke were of peau d’seau lace. The long sheer sleeves had lace cuffs and were trimmed with rose appliques accented with seed pearls. The natural waistline was trimmed with rosebud appli- ques and seed pearls, as was the gathered skirt flowing to a ruffled hemline and chapel length train. Her fingertip veil was held by a Juliet cap trimmed with lace and sequins. She carried her mother’s white Bible (which originally came from Jerusalem) with carved mother of pearl cover from which fell a cascade of apricot roses; stephanotis, ivy and baby’s breath. Organist was Arlene Gib- ble, pianist was Sally Kibler, and trumpeters were Dennis Wellerand and James Gambini. Steve Gar- ber was soloist and a duet was presented by Jayne and Karl McDonald. Following a reception in the Church Youth Center, the couple left on a wedding trip to Virginia. The bride graduated from Donegal High School, class of '74, and from Messiah College in 1979. She plans to attend Indiana University School of Music in Septem- ber. The groom graduated from Northwood High School in 1975 and from Messiah College in 1979. He is attending Indiana Univer- sity School of Medicine. The couple will reside in Bloom- ington, Indiana. Miss Karin Welcomer bride of Mark Shaeffer The marriage of Miss Karin Welcomer, 734 W. Mattern weds William Schweitzer Miss Joann Mary Mattern, Marietta, became the bride of William Paul Schweitzer, Maytown, on Saturday, August 9, at 11 a.m., in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia. The Reverend Stephen Rolke performed the double ring ceremony. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white chiffon gown over rayon crepe. The bodice was covered with white Venice lace and featured a V neckline, and empire waist trimmed in pearls. The bishop sleeves terminated at the wrist and were cuffed with chiffon. The A-line skirt of chiffon flowed into a semi-cathedral length train. Her walking-length chiffon veil was held by a chiffon covered camelot headpiece. A cluster of roses adorned the side of the headpiece along with pearls inter- twined across the cap. She carried a silk bouquet of white tiger lilies, stephano- tis, baby’s breath, and ivy. Miss Dawn E. Mattern, Lykens, was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Cindy Berta, Allen- town; Kristie Dercher, Leb- anon; Denise Mattern, niece of the bride, Hegins; and Mary Anne Schweitzer, the groom’s sister, Lancaster.
