New officers are installed at Mount Joy BPW meeting The Mount Joy Business and Professional Women’s Club installed officers at their last meeting, held Monday, June 23, at Hostetter’s Dining Hall. She introduced soloist Sandy Heisey who presented vocal selections accompanying herself on the piano. “Old Memories and Young Hopes,”” a slide presentation, was shown by Mrs. Hoover and Mrs. Brown. Cindy Heagy, Donegal Girl of the month, and her mother, Mrs. Frederick Heagy, were introduced to the club. Also present was BPW scholarship winner Tracee Gotwalt and her mother, Mrs. Ronald Got- walt. The BPW’s summer out- ing will be held at John Henry Brubaker’s on July 28, 6:30 pm. Members will be contacted via telephone square. The board meeting will be held at the home of the president on July 14, at 7:30 pm. Farm Women meet June 21 Farm Women’s Society #8 met at the home of Hettie Ginder, Mount Joy, R.D.#2, Saturday, June 21, at 2 pm. The society president Kath- ryn Heisey was in charge of the meeting. Sixteen mem- bers and two visitors were present. The song *‘O Beautiful for Spacious Skies’ was sung by the group. Ruth Musser was in charge of devotions. The secretary’s report was given by Anna Mae Derr. Mrs. Richard Funk was installed as a new member. Response to roll call was given by answering the question “Who taught you to drive a car?’ The main feature of the afternoon was the dis- cussion on fire safety given by Frank Good from the fire company. He gave numer- ous pointers on fire pre- vention in the home and suggested the use of smoke detectors. Hostesses for the meeting were Hettie Ginder, Patsy Warfel, Florence Musser and Ruth Musser. August is the month for the County Picnic. The next meeting will be held September 27 at 2 pm. It will be held at the home of Grace Bixler, Marietta, R.D.#1. — Pauline E. Miller D. Democrats hold meeting An organizational meet- ing of the Donegal Demo- crats was held at the home of John E. Matoney, Donegal Springs Road, Thursday, June 24. Nancy Harclerode, chair- man of the Lancaster County Democratic Committee, pre- sided at the meeting. John E. Matoney was elected District Leader for the Donegal area. Ms. Harcle- rode stated that she has known and worked with Jack on party affairs for many years and was confident that his political experience will enable him to re-build the party in the Donegal District.
