SPECIALIST yo / Hime igo. Columbia, PA Rent it at April 30, 1980 Edgar Appley named president of Marietta Lions for 1980-81 Arthur Hemming, a mem- ber of the Manheim Lion’s Club, was guest speaker for the regular dinner meeting of the Marietta Lion’s Club at the Colonial Inn. The blind man was accompanied by his seeing- eye dog and related many experiences he has had with his three seeing-eye dogs for the last 35 years. Mr. Hemming was a truck driver and had an unfortunate accident when his face was severely burned. According to the speaker, there are seven schools for training seeing-eye dogs in the United States, and the recipients go to the school of their choice to become acquainted with the animal designated as their constant companion. Mr. Hemming introduced “Coda’”’, a German Shep- herd, to the group and gave various commands to which the dog readily obeyed. The slate of nominees for the 1980-81 term were elected as presented: Edgar Appley, President; Ronald Perry, 1st Vice-president; James Libhart, 2nd Vice- president; Patrick Kenney Jr., 3rd Vice-president; Richard McKain, Treasurer; Ivan Hess, Tailtwister; Joe Gilmartin, one year trustee; Ivan Hess and Edward Charles, three year trustees. The club contributed to the Marietta Recreation Association’s yearly project, which is the Children’s Fair. This is the second term Edgar Appley has served as president of the Marietta Lion’s Club.
