Simmons has returned from two years of duty in Germany and is now stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Michael and Charles are the sons of Mrs. Jane Simmons of Marietta. §8§ Frank B. Walter, former mayor of Mount Joy, who resides at 233 E. Main Street, will celebrate his 90th birthday on Saturday, April 26th. He is recovering from a recent gall stone operation. §8§ Jackie Oyler, Rheems, and Kirk Wolgemuth, Mount Joy, were among eight nominees for Eliza- bethtown College’s Out- standing Business Student at the annual Department of Business awards banquet last Wednesday. Wolge- muth, a senior, also re- ceived the Musselman Scho- larship at the same banquet. Oyler is also a senior. §§§ Sean Martin §§§ Deborah Torres, Mount Joy, won the Lancaster Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council Teen Talent Com- petition this past Sunday. Deb, a senior at Donegal High School, competed against 19 students from schools throughout the county. She sang a medley from the show ‘‘A Chorus Line’ and tap danced. Deb is the daughter of Mrs. Geraldine S. Torres, Mount Joy, and Joe D. Torres, Marietta. §§§ Angel Moore, Mount Joy, was one of eight skaters to collect over $100 in the American Heart Associ- ation’s Fifth Annual Skate- a-thon. Angel received an American Heart T-shirt. §§§ Navy machinist’s mate fireman Thomas S. Wood, Jr., son of Thomas S. and Cornelia H. Wood of Route 1, Bainbridge, has com- pleted the Basic Enlisted Course at the Naval Sub- marine School, Groton, Conn. During the six-week course, he was introduced to the basic theory, construc- tion, and operation of nuclear-powered and diesel submarines. In preparation for his first assignment, he studied shipboard organiza- tion, damage control, and submarine safety and escape procedures. A graduate of Donegal High, he joined the Navy in July, 1979. §§8 Angela Boyles S. Martin & A. Boyles Boy & Girl of Month Sean Martin and Angela Boyles have been elected April's Boy and Girl of the Month in room #50 at the Riverview Elementary School, Marietta. Sean is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Martin, 564 East Front Street, Marietta. He was elected for being a good citizen both at home and in school. He plays quietly and does not interfere in other’s games. Sean, who attends cub scouts and wrestling makes his bed and cleans his room each Saturday. Angela is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Boyles, 689 West Market Street, Marietta. Angela, who is also a good citizen, is quiet and stays in her seat on the bus. She finishes her homework on time. Angela helps her mother clean and helps care for the twins in her family. She feeds her dog, attends Brownie meet- ings and roller skates for Doris Saylor Doris Marie Saylor has been named April’s Girl of the Month at Donegal High School. Doris, an academic stu- dent, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Saylor, RD#1, Elizabethtown. Doris is a member of the Elizabethtown United Zion Church Youth Group and secretary of her Sunday School class. She was employed on her father’s farm last summer and plans a career in nursing.
