EA SE A a ERT A LY TC IW Beahm junior high students see film on spinal cord injuries Students at Beahm Junior High School heard about the Spinal Cord Injury Program of the Milton Hershey Medical Center and the Elizabethtown Hospital on Thursday, March 27. A film and slides showed victims of spinal cord injuries, how the injuries occurred and the consequences of paralysis. A question/answer ses- sion followed. Students learned that spinal cord injuries are not hereditary. They are usually the result of carelessness in perform- ing such physical activities Lions see 1962 film Harry Zink of Bainbridge showed slides of the Mariet- ta Sesqui-centennial for the Marietta Lion’s Club recent- ly. The event was held in 1962 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of New Haven and Waterford into the town of Marietta. The group voted to present its annual $50 savings bond to a DHS graduating senior selected by the faculty for a citizenship award. In other business, an officers’ nominating com- mittee made up of Ivan Hess, Richard Smedley and James Price was appointed. New officers will be instal- led at the next meeting. The club went on record as endorsing the recently formed Marietta Area Busi- ness Association. The new organization hopes to en- courage new business to settle in the community.
