Page 12—SUSQUEHANNA TIMES Florin firemen honor six at 2nd annual outing Ney, James A. Grubb Last Saturday evening the Florin Fire Company had an outing and picnic at the home of John H. Lutz on Donegal Springs Road in Mount Joy. At the outing which featured roast pig and corn on the cob, six firemen were honored for their years of service (‘‘getting out of bed’ to fight fires) to the company and to the community. Jay R. Ney, who joined the fire company in 1954, and who served as treasur- er, chief engineer, and presently a trustee, was awarded a plaque and also given lifetime membership in the company. John H. Lutz joined the company also in 1954 and served as chief, president, vice-president, chief engin- eer, and is presently a trustee. He was awarded a plaque for his years of Left to right: Harvey E. Stoudt, John E. Geltmacher, Carl N. Coen, John H. Lutz, Jay R. service. Lutz is already a life member of the company. Carl N. Coen joined the company in 1960 and served as president, secretary, and captain of the fire police. He was awarded a plaque and was also granted life membership. Harvey E. Stoudt joined the company in 1966, served as assistant chief, and is presently president of the fire company. Geltmacher joined in 1964 and served as president, vice-president, chief chemical man, financi- al secretary. He was presented with a plaque and given life membership. James A. Grubb joined in 1964 and served as chief engineer and is presently a trustee. He was awarded a plaque and given life membership. The presentations were made with a good sense of humor by Paul Knier, who has been Lancaster County Fire Marshall for the last 49 years. Knier reminded young members that the fire company serves the com- munity, but that ‘‘we need the support of the commun- ity too.” -Bill Warner and John H. Lutz barbecued the pig from 8 a.m. till S p.m. Charles Eshleman, secre- Donegal H S Class of 74 holds 5th reunion at Landis Valley Resort The Donegal High School Class of “74” held its S year reunion on August 4 at the Landis Valley Resort Inn, with 125 people in attend- ance. The evening's events were as follows: social hour from 6 to 7PM, buffet dinner from 7 to 8:30PM, class president address and The class of 1974, Donegal H.S., at their 5th reunion at Landis Valley Resort dancing from 9:30 to 2AM. Class President, Rick Hilt, opened his address by calling the meeting to order. CLASS BUSINESS: Treasury Balance of $150. Ten year reunion committee chairman is Julie Thomas Hamilton. Reading of letter to class from classmate Dale E. Irvin, who is stationed in Berlin, East Germany, with the U.S. Army. AWARDS: Married couples from within class—Gary & Beth Becker Gallagher; Gary & Nicola Markley McNece; Ron & Bernice Mummau Tomkin.
