Barbara is a 1977 graduate of Donegal High School and is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William B. Landis, Columbia. §8§ Dr. M. Susan Richman of Bainbridge, head of the undergraduate mathemati- cal sciences program, has been promoted from assist- ant professor to associate professor of mathematics. Prior to joining the Capitol Campus faculty in 1968, Dr. Richman was a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, with an A.B. in math. Her Ph.D. is from the University of Aberdeen. §88§ Gloria Long of Arizona, formerly Gloria Longeneck- er of Mount Joy, didn’t win the Miss Arizona pageant— but she was first runner-up. Gloria, the daughter of Lineaus Longenecker of RDS Manheim, was previously Miss Mount Joy and Miss Lancaster County. Gloria is studying for a Master’s in music at Arizona, State University in Tucson. (She is still Miss Tucson.) §§§ William L. Bitzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Bitzer of Mount Joy R1, has enlisted into the Navy's Delayed Entry Program. William enlisted in the Navy’s School ‘Guarantee Radioman Program and is scheduled to depart for recruit training at the Navy Recruit Training Center, Orlando, Florida July .23, 1979. William is a 1978 graduate of Donegal High School. Deb Torres, the new Miss Donegal Area, who flew off to New Hampshire to act in a summer theater group before we could get her * picture, will be appearing as Doris in the musical Damn Yankees with the Durham Summer Theater. She will also sing in the musical Company in a major role. §§§ Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council has cancelled its Open House at Camp Echo Trail in southern York Co. EN 29th. Bruce Sutter of Mount Joy, relief pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, won the 50th All-Star Game last week in Seattle, making him the first pitcher in All-Star history to win two games in a row—he won last year’s game in San Diego also. Sutter leads the National League in saves with 22. He has a 1.21 earned run average, and his record for this year is 4-2. Frank Aument, Sr., of Mount Joy, shot a two- under-par on July 19, and a one-stroke-under for his age (69) while golfing at Indian Springs Golf Course with John G. Hart. §§8 Susan Elizabeth May, of 317 Rivermoor Drive, Mari- etta, is one of 12 Lancaster County high school grad- uates awarded a ‘‘Search For Excellence’’ scholarship to attend Millersville State College this fall. She is a 1979 DHS grad. Ms. May will receive a $100 cash award. The 12 winners were chosen from among groups of 11 top students named by each county high school. Greer was selected for out- standing civic and profes- sional contributions to his community. Greer is a member of the law firm of Herr, Kirchner, Greer and Herr. He is a graduate of Mercer Univer- sity Law School, Gettysburg College and Donegal High School, class of 1962. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Greer of Maytown, Greer was a class president, Boy of the Month, and an honor student at DHS, as well as being active in sports. Greer now resides in Lancaster with his wife, Linda, who is a graduate of Millersville State College. Dave and Linda have four daughters: Angela, a stu- dent at Kutztown State College; Sonia, a student at Clarion State College; Kelly, a foreign exchange student in Sweden; and Whitney, who is about to enter kindergarten.
