President Mrs. Warren State trooper Romaine Engle of the Lancaster Barracks was the guest speaker for the last meeting of Farm Women #8 at the Marietta Community House. A safety education officer, trooper Engle spoke on women’s safety. Her talk was entitled, ‘‘Lady Beware.”’ Trooper [Engle talked about the growing number of assaults on women in this area, and gave practical suggestions on how to avoid or fight off an assault. A film, ‘‘Nobody’s Victim,”’ was shown. for the roll call, guest 25 members were present and one attended. Phyllis The Mount Joy Joycee- ettes saw a skit called ‘‘All the Caterpillars You Want’ at their last meeting. It was performed for them by the Lancaster Family and Chil- dren’s Service. It portrayed parent-child relationships. The Joycee-ettes’ Craft Day/Bazaar turned out to be a huge success. A total of 299 craft items were enter- ed. The Joycee-ettes hope that the people who entered their crafts, and the com- munity, enjoyed this pro- ject. The Easter egg hunt was held at the Borough Park. The Easter Bunny paid a surprise visit and passed out colored eggs. Tickets are now on sale for the Memorial Day Chicken Bar-B-Q, to be held on the same day as the parade: May 26th. It will The Sico Company will host its 32nd annual employ- ees’ banquet on May 4th at Historic Strasburg. Service awards will be presented to those with 10, 15, 20, 2S and 30 years’ service. Watches Food sale A food sale, sponsored by the Episcopal Women of St. John’s Church, Marietta, will be held on Saturday, May Sth, from 9:00 to 12:00 AM. Baked goods, salads, Heisey conducted the busi- ness session. The Farm Women decided to help the Lancaster Association for the Blind for its current project. Dish cloths are being sold by the group now to raise funds. Pauline Miller and Anna Wolgemuth have returned home from the hospital. Hostesses for this meet- ing were Ruth Drager, Hettie Ginder, Phyllis End- slow, and Isabell Endslow. The May meeting date will be announced by the telephone squad. Joycee-ettes see a skit last from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, and will be at the Lions Club building parking lot (next to the pool). For tickets, call chairwoman Sandy Spayd at 653-2216, or any other Joycee-ette. The Joycee-ettes are also working on a float for the Memorial Day parade. The -chairwomen are Nancy Nes- tleroth and and Connie Ginder. The 75-Plus Banquet is planned for June 14th at Hostetter’s. More informa- tion about this event will be announced at a later date. Chairwomen for the 75-Plus Banquet are Sharon Funk and Cheryl Hallgren. The newly-elected board members will be the guests for a dinner prepared by the former board members at the home of Kathy Bower, May Ist. Sico employees’ banquet to be held will be given to those with 2S years’ service. Kling, a member of Den 3, also won his Webelos badge and engineer merit badge. Other members of Den 3 who got awards are Denny Hershey (artist, athlete, engineer, sportsman and traveler badges), Gregg Pennington (artist and sci- entist badges), and Mark Rosenberry (aquanaut badge). These boys in Den 2 won badges: Scott Dillow (bear badge and Webelos colors); and Billy Garber (gold arrow). In Den 1, awards were made to: David Long (bear, gold arrow); George Marley (2 silver arrows); Barry Funk (wolf, gold arrow, and 2 silver arrows); Todd Lovinger (gold arrow); Chris Ream (wolf and gold arrow); and Chris Wilson (gold arrow). Five boys were taken into the scouts by Jim Ruhl, Scout Master of Troop 63.
