Page 4—SUSQUEHANNA TIMES BPW to sponsor Comedy in Concert The famous Mel Ehrin will present ‘‘Comedy in Concert’” on April 21 at 8 PM at Donegal High School, sponsored by the Mount Joy Business and Professional Women’s Club. This benefit performance was announced by Ms. Madelyn Nix, 1978 BPW Woman of the Year, who addressed the Business and Professional Women at their last meeting. Ms. Nix is an attorney for Sperry New Holland. She talked to the group about women’s legal rights. Miss Molly Booth, a sophomore at Hempfield High School and a member of the Hempfield Singers, entertained the group by singing and playing guitar. The program was arrang- ed by the Foundation Developement Committee with Mrs. Barry Etsell as chairwoman. She introduc- ed the speaker and gave a resume of the Foundation. Other members of the committee are Gail Hoover, Kathryn Heisey, Helen Booth, Mildred Way, Ethel Shoop and Molly Hart. President Yvonne Koser conducted the business session, during which three delegates were elected to the spring District Meeting at Shippensburg State College to be held on April 17th. Ada Thompson, Mary Buckwalter and Yvonne Koser will attend. Alter- nates are Linda Krause, Dorothy Wagner and Molly Hart. . Delegatest to the State Convention, to be held in the Hershey Convention Center on June 15th will be Patricia Shearer and Diane Rice. Alternates are Molly Hart and Joyce Mumma. The number of members participating in Pennsyl- vania BPW clubs is 10,954, it was announced. The March Board of Directors meeting will be held at the home of president Koser on March 12 at 7:30 PM. Kristen Straub, Donegal High School Girl of the Month, and her mother, Mrs. Don Straub, were guests of the club. Smedley, Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smedley, Sr., of 29 North Gay Street, Marietta, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation from Officer Training School at Lackland AFB, Texas. Lt. Smedley will now go to Keesler AFB in Missis- sippi for training and duty as a communications sys- tems officer. Smedley is a 1969 graduate of Donegal High School. He has a B.S. degree in biology from Albright College. §§§ Gallagher helps invade Sardinia Navy Chief Electrician's Mate Donald Gallagher, the son of Dale and Goldie Gallagher of RD1 Bain- bridge, is participating in a combined U.S.-Italian naval exercise in the Mediterran- ean Sea. He is a crewman on the salvage ship USS Recovery. S0 ships and 300 aircraft are involved in the exer- cise. Land-based air sup- port is provided by Germany, Britain, Italy and the U.S. Air Force. The high point of the exercise is an amphibious landing in Sardinia by the Italian Navy and the U.S. Marines. Gallagher's wife, Rosemarie, is the daughter of Darvin and Cleo Rogers of RD1 Marietta.
