Elizabeth Miley She’s 95 today Elizabeth Miley of Mari- etta will celebrate her 95th birthday on August 23rd. She was born in Lancaster in 1883, when airplanes did not yet exist, electricity was a novelty, and the automobile was still an experiment. “It seems like just yesterday that I was 90 years old,” she says. She moved to her pre- sent residence, in RD Marietta, in 1886. Trains used to run close to her home when she was young, and the furnaces were operating. Her father oper- ated a truck farm, and Elizabeth would pick up to 100 boxes of berries in a day. Miss Miley was Marietta Postmistress for 15 years around the time of World War IL She is still in good health. An avid reader, she likes gardening and visiting with her friends and rela- tives. Happy Birthday! Immunizations are required by law The nurses of the Don- egal School District have identified every child in the district who needs vaccina- tions against polio, tetanus, diptheria, and other dis- eases. They will be sending survey forms to some parents to get more infor- mation. They ask that you complete the form as soon as possible and return it. Also: if your child is entering the 6th or 11th grade this September, and is having the required physical done by the family doctor, ask the doctor to record any shots on the form at that time. These immunizations are recommended: 1. D.P.T., 3 doses in the last 10 years. 2. oral polio, 3 doses. 3. measles, 1 dose or documented history of the disease for your child. 4. rubella, 1 dose live vaccine. Immunization is required for attendance at any school. Classified Ads are : FREE in the | Susquehanna Times to all individuals —businesses pay only $2.00 per week! (minimum)
