She will be competing against 10 other young women for the honor and the scholarship. Good Luck, Linda! Swimming lessons etc. Swimming lessons began last Thursday at Marietta Playground. They will con- tinue each morning until August 4th, except Tues- days. Marietta lost to E-town in a softball game. A rematch is scheduled for this afternoon. Sewing cards were the arts/crafts project for the younger kids this week. Winners of the Trouble Tournament were: Stacy Wilson, 1st, Corinne Ebersole, 2nd; Troy Custer, 3rd; and Mindy Ruick, 4th. { During the week of July 24 a horse shoe tournament will be held. On Tuesday paper flowers will be made. Bingo will be played on Wednesday (no charges or prizes). A cookout is planned for Thursday, and a bike rodeo is scheduled for Friday at 1:30. Bike rodeo participants should meet at Riverview School playground. Field Da py for farmers and others August 1st will be a field day, presenting the latest developments in hybrid corn, forages, soybeans, etc, at the Penn State research farm near Landis- ville. The field day is designed to interest farm- ers, seedsmen, farm pro- duct retailers, and garden- ers. Specialists from the University will be on hand to answer questions. Wagon tours will run 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Lunch may be bought at the farm from the Farm Women, chapter S. To get there, take 283 toward Lancaster, and get off at the Salunga/Landis- ville exit, and turn right on Spooky Nook Road. Go to Shenk Road, make a left. Go through a covered bridge, then go right on Auction Road. July 26, 1978 They're giving away $1000! Maytown Ambulance Assoc. meets The Maytown/East Don- egal Ambulance Associa- tion held their monthly meeting on July 14th at the Maytown Fire Hall. Crew chief Jack Doutrich was in charge of the meeting, and presented the ambulance report. For the month of June, there were six calls: 1 emergency call for a boy hit in the face with a golf club; 1 car accident; 2 routine transports; 1 stand- by at the town picnic; and a standby for the Marietta Ambulance. Crew members are plan- ning an antique flea market and chicken barbeque to be held on Saturday, Septem- ber 30th on the fire com- pany - grounds. Deb Smeal was appointed to head the committee in charge of the big event. Readers are advised to watch for future announcements on stand rentals, etc, in this paper. Maytown Ambulance is also sponsoring a $1000 giveaway, with winners to be drawn on November 4th of this year. Frank Splain Jr. is the project chairman. Tickets can be purchased between right now and the day of the giveaway. Members voted to parti- cipate in the annual Woodsmen’s Festival of the Forest Fire Crew, which is slated for September 7, 8, and 9 this year. The ambulance crew will have a stand at the festival. The Ambulance Associa- tion will have more projects coming up as they work toward buying a new ambulance, so as to better serve the people of East Donegal Township and the surrounding areas. Linda Thomas and Den- nis Ebersole were accepted as members of the Ambu- lance Association at the meeting. Box S578, Maytown, PA 17550. : The members voted to donate an emergency first aid kit to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Maytown Fire Company. They appre- ciate the fine work being done by the Auxiliary. Ambulance crew mem- bers want to express their gratitude for the cards of thanks and donations they receive each month. The next meeting of the Maytown/East Donegal Area Ambulance Associa- tion will be on Thursday, August 10th, at 7:30 PM. All members are urged to attend to help make some decisions important to t future of the Association. There will be a business session, discussion on eval- uation of calls, and a training session, if time allows. Day Camp for girl scouts at Sico Park Day camp in the Donegal Neighborhood of the Penn Laurel Scout Council will be held in Sico Park, Mount Joy, from August 7 through 11 from 9:00 to 3:00 each day. Girls who attend should pack a lunch, Girl Scout Handbook, raingear, and pad and pencil. Swimming will take place on Tuesday Ceramics The Keystone Ceramics Association will hold a show in Convention Hall, Hershey, on August 4, S, and 6. There will be door prizes, demonstrations by and Friday mornings at the Mount Joy Lions Club pool. Girls should get there by 9:00 AM. Brownies should bring a white T-shirt to camp on Monday for the tie-dying. Remember to have an 1.D. tag inside the T-shirt. Any questions?
