They published letters favoring the suggestion from educa- tors, doctors, and others. [In case you still don’t know, CPR is a combina- tion of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and external cardiac massage. It can maintain heart and lung action for a victim of heart attack, drowning, electric shock, or other deadly conditions, and is one of the most effective life -saving techniques the layman can learn. ] We think the people at Parade magazine have the right idea. Our high school offers driver training to help save lives; it’s possible that CPR training could save even more. Obituaries MRS. WARREN RUPP Mrs. Anna Mae Rupp, S0, of 12 W. Jacob Street, Maytown, died February 28th at St. Joseph Hospital after an illness of several weeks. She was the wife of Warren P. Rupp, Sr. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of Mae Adams Hogentogler and the late Leo Hogentogler. She was a former Sunday School teacher at the First United Methodist Church in Marietta, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also attended the Rock Church of York. She was a member of the Maytown American Legion auxiliary. Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband; two daughters, Donna J. of Columbia, and Sarah A., at home; two sons, Warren P. Jr., and Mark W., both at —Should CPR be taught at DHS? An objection will be raised to this idea: Its cost—many taxpayers al- ready feel overburdened. The chances arc, though, that every Donegal High School student could be trained in CPR for a cost of $2.05 each. That’s how much the course costs people who take it on their own; they buy a booklet for that much money, and the instruction itself is free, donated by Red Cross volunteers. The schools would have little trouble finding volunteers to teach CPR through the Red Cross. If Red Cross CPR teachers were not available for some reason, most likely some of the health and physical education teachers would be willing to take the CPR instruction course, so they could teach CPR as part of their regular classes. home; a grand-daughter; a twin sister, Mrs. Sarah Jane Adams of Fair Lawn, NJ; a sister Bertha, wife of Jacob Marley, Columbia RD2; a sister Pauline, wife of Charles Leed, Columbia; and a brother, Joseph Hogentogler of Newport, Delaware.
