Page 18—SUSQUEHANNA TIMES New thermometer checks value of insulation PP&L has developed a new stick-on wall or window thermometer that tells you how effective your isulation is. It’s called the ‘‘NRG METR’’ and is simply a very flat thermometer with stick-um on the back side, guage on the front. PP&L says it’s very accurate, despite being so thin. The METR was develop- ed by Robert Romancheck, supervisor of research and technical services at PP&L. Commenting on his inven- tion, Romancheck noted, ‘‘It is accurate to within 10% of the true [insulation] value, and that’s about as close as the experts can come using more sophisti- cated equipment.’’ PP&L spokesmen point out that having your insula- tion measured can cost more than the savings accrued when action is taken on the measurement. Hunters— J jet the other guy know you’re there! Trapping Season opened on November 6th, last Sunday. The Game Commission reports that supplies of most fur-bearers are thought to be good. Prices for pelts have been at an all-time high in recent years. Pelts are usually prime by early November. The season ends January 31. Make noise, stay alive The Game Commission recomends that hunters make their presence known to other hunters, who are the most deadly denizens of our forests. Last year 17 persons were shot in our state. You can avoid being one of these statistics by letting the other guy know you are there. Recommended prac- tices are coughing, speak- ing, or even yelling if the circumstances dictate this course. Don’t rustle the underbrush —the Commis- sion says this will make the other hunter think you are game, and get you shot. It’s true that the man with the gun is responsible for not shooting other humans, but remember you should always look out for the other guy around this time of year.
