Salute to vets An evening of reflection; an opportunity to give thanks and pay tribute to those who have served to keep America free; this is what the students of Donegal High School have planned for November 11, 1977, when they will be honoring the men and women of the Armed Forces in their annual Veterans’ Day observance. This year’s commemora- tion will consist of two programs: an assembly on the morning of November 11 for the student body and a full-length performance of patriotic music and drama in the high school auditorium at 7:30 p.m. of the same day. The evening performance is open to the general public and is free of charge to all who attend. Moderator for both performances is James Johnson, President of the Donegal Dramatics Club. The dramatics portions of the program have been written by members of the Donegal Dramatics Club. This year’s program fea- tures the play ‘‘Life of Honor’’, penned by Miss Sharon Cox, a Donegal Junior. ‘‘Portraits of Cou- rage’’, a vignette of men and women whose extra- ordinary courage have inscribed their names in the annuals of history, will be depicted by student participants. Music appropriate for the occasion will be provided by the Donegal Chorus, The Rhythm Singers and the Donegal High School Band. Miss Rebecca Zim- merman, the honor soloist for this year’s program, will sing the traditional Veteran’s Day rendition of “God Bless America’’. Recognition of the 200th anniversary of Washing- ton’s winter at Valley Forge will be effected through a re-enactment of the familiar painting ““Washington in Prayer’’. La Leche The E-town/Mount Joy La Leche League will hold its 3rd couples’ meeting on Thursday, November 10th at 7:30 PM at the Norlanco Health Center. You don’t have to be a couple to come, everyone is invited. The topic will be, ‘‘The baby arrives; the family and the breast-fed baby." La Leche began twenty years ago in a Chicago suburb, when one mother who had successfully nursed her baby helped another who wanted to breast-feed. This is still the basic approach, although the League is now interna- tional in scope, with more than 3300 groups in 42 countries. The League manual, The Womanly Art of Breast- feeding, can be bought or loaned from your local chapter. There are also other books of special interest to parents that can be borrowed from the League’s lending library.
