Mount Joy Jr. tennis winners The thira annual Mount Joy Junior Tennis Tourn- ament was held this past weekend. The 14 and under boy’s tennis title was won by the last year’s runnerup, Brian Newcomer. Brian’s control and steady playing won him the championship over John Crider 6-1, 6-0. Brian reached the finals by outlasting Fred Straub 6-4, 6-4. Fred Straub won his preliminary round over Dean Brian in what proved to be the closest match of the Tournament 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. John Crider reached the finals playing a very strong match over Alan Brian 6-1, 6-3. Alan got to the semi-finals by outplay- ing Pat Moran 6-3, 6-0. The girls’s event in the 14 and under was captured by Sherri Kinsey. Her strong strokes were too much for her opponent, Marty Miller: 6-3, 6-3. Sherri reached the finals by defeating Beth Keffer 6-1, 6-4. Marty got to the finals by defeating Nora Motter 6-2, 6-3. All participants received headbands and the winners and runnersups received trophies. The prizes and trophies were provided by Kenny Smith Sport Shop. Better Business Bureau opens local office Lancaster consumers now have another resource in dealing with businesses. The Better Business Bur- eau of Eastern Pennsylvan- ia has opened a branch office in Lancaster County to deal more effectively with consumer-business re- lations. The Better Business Bureau is a private non- help for consumers profit organization support- ed by business and profes- sional members. It is de- dicated to maintaining high ethical standards in adver- tising and selling. The bureau promotes good re- lationships between busi- nesses and consumers, re- solves complaints, and also attempts to police a shoddy business operator. Linda Hollingshead, manager of the Lancaster office, is pleased with the way things have started in their temporary quarters at 900 East King Street. “‘I am glad to mediate in any disputes,’”’ she says. Candy Flowers wins 1st place in MD Miss Candy Flowers of Marietta was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Wig- gins of Lancaster, Pa. They attended a Roller Skating meet at Merryland in Maryland. Candy rolled into first place in Primary girls figure, and fourth in Elementary Beginners.
