There were 311 starters. and 308 finished the race. The order of finish for Donegal Coaches-Teachers were: Freshman Wrestling Coach, Chuck Leader, 47th place, time 38.40; Teacher, Dave Halbleib, 88th place, time 41.43; Varsity Football Coach, Gayne Deshler, 1S3rd place, time 46.15; J.V. Basketball Coach, Bob Freund, 158th place, time 46:36 and Football-Wrest- ling Coach, Tom Knorr 292nd place, time 65:00. The “‘Run for Your Life”’ race was held May 7, 1977 at Newark, Delaware. The distance was 10 km. or 6.2 miles. There were 120 starters and 120 finishers. The order of finish was: Chuck Leader, 12th place, time 36:21; Dave Halbleib, 28th place, time 39:39; Gayne Deshler, 66th place, time 44:34;and Tom Knorr, 117th place, time 63:44. The Annual Phoenixville Race was held on May 21, 1977, at Phoenixville, PA. The distance for the race was 4.5 miles. The temper- ature was 91 degrees at race time. There were 130 starters and 125 finishers. The order of finish: Chuck Leader, 19th place, time 24:59; Dave Halbleib, S0th place, time 27:58; Gayne Deshler, 70th place, time 29:31; Bob Freund, 74th place, time 31:18 and Tom Knorr 123rd place, time 44:15. Mount Joy Joycee-ettes ‘by Jacquie McCurdy The May membership meeting of the Mount Joy Joycee-ettes was held May 17 at. the Boro Hall. Preceeding the meeting was a delightful program presented by Mrs. Jean Edwards of Hickory Farms. She spoke on types of cheese, preparing and preserving of cheeses and passed out delicious samp- les of various cheeses. The program was enjoyed bd all who attended. Martha Bixler was the guest for the meeting. Plans are being finalized for the 75 plus banquet to be held June 9th at Hostetter’s Banquet Hall. The Mount Joy Joycee- ettes are preparing a cook book "to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Mount Joy Joycee-ettes. Cindy Stoner and Sue Thomas are chairmen for this project. Look for future articles regarding this club project. Donna Wetzel and Patsy Hoffer are planning a summer social. Chairmen for the 25th Anniversary Celebra- tion are Sandy Gingrich and Patsy Hoffer. The year 1977, commemorates the Joycee-ettes’ 25 years of service to the community. The Miss Mount Joy Pa- gent will be held June 18, at the Donegal High School. Donna Wetzel and her committee will be ' assisting the contestants back stage in preparing for the pageant that night. The Joycee-ettes are looking forward to the June mem- bership meeting which will be held in the form of a cover dish. v
