Joy swim team will host meet for divisional championship The Divisional Champ- ionship for Section 3 of the Lancaster Swim Program will be held at the Mount Joy Lions Pool on July 31. Judging by their perfor- mance so far this year, the home team has a good shot at the title. There are 104 athletes, ranging in age from S to 17. on the Mount Joy Swim Tcam. The team is unde- fcated after 3 meets this vear. The older kids on the team swim 2 to 3 thousand i GR Ft Ha The members of the Mount Joy meters a day to stay in shape for meets. Younger members cover 1,000 meters a day. Head coach Dean Buch- anauer, who swims for Johns Hopkins during the winter, has been leading the team for 2 years. Dean, a DHS grad, was able to get a pace clock for his team this year. The clock helps the athletes measure their progress between meets. Assistant coach, Patty Wolfe, a Donegal High School graduate who works P TE RE 7% 5 wn py 8 ¥ or Tw > % we RTRs i as a secretary for the school system, specializes in teaching younger mem- bers of the team. Donegal senior, John Hayman, also helps coach. The team is supported by the Parents’ Swim Team Club and the Mount Joy Lions. Fund-raising activi- ties include pizza sales, family picnics, and sleep- outs at the pool.
