It will be a double elimination tournament with six area teams partici- pating. The teams come from Middletown, Mount Joy, Columbia, Marietta, and two from Elizabeth- own. The first game starts at 9:30 Saturday morning. It should be a very exciting weekend. In the early game Mon- day evening, Farm Diner topped Chapman’s 6 to 1. It was a ‘‘pitching contest’ all the way with Chapman’s Sharon Redcay and Farm Diner’s Barb Reuter until the Sth inning when Farm Diner’s catcher, Lois Wolgemuth slammed a triple into right center to start a rally. Heistand’s Chrys. Ply. faced Marietta in the later game, with Marietta taking the game 19 to S. Heis- tand’s short stop, Connie Koser batted 4 for S. Sonya Gish, Marietta’s 3rd base- man batted 4 for S with two ground rule doubles under the right field fence, while Kathy Miller batted 3 for S and had several tremend- ous stops at 2nd base. Tuesday evening saw two close, well fought games. Marietta beat Mount Joy 8 0 S but not until the last inning. It was anybody’s game with the score S to S going into the 7th. The bases were loaded with two outs when Marietta’s pitcher, Rae Ann Parker, hit a well earned triple along the right field base line. Marietta’s left fielder, Norma Heisey, batted 3 for S while Mount Joy catcher, Nancy Jo Greenawalt bat- ed 3 for 4. Chapman's Apparel aced Chiques and took the ontest 6 to 4. It was a tight defensive game all the way. Terry Taylor, short stop and Sue Seitz, left field, both hit doubles for Chapman's and Barb Hoover hit a double for Chiques. Farm Diner also played Heistand’s Chrys. Ply. on Tuesday and walked away with the win 20 to 2. There were two games Thursday evening; in the first, Farm Diner topped E-town Merchants 1 to 0. The Merchant’s pitcher, Rhonda Shope kept Farm Diner to 4 hits while chalking themselves up with 8. In the Sth inning, Farm Diner’s left fielder, Sylvia Sumpman, drove in the winning run with a line drive to right field so this was quite a surprise to the Merchant’s fielders. E-town Merchant's field- er’'s Wendy ‘‘Might Mite” Wolfe and Sue Weidman, had three beautiful put outs in the bottom of the 6th. In the second contest, Chiques topped Heistand’s Chrys. Ply. 21 to 7. Heistand’s Sally Famus, looked sharp on 3rd base while slamming a well earned double. Chiques had Melva Flowers, Heistand’s left fielder all over the place but she made quite a few beautiful Church of the Brethren catches.
