)76 May §, 1976 Chris Merchant to receive scout award Chris Merchant Gerald Alleman, Scout- master of Troop #39, Mount Joy announced that Chris Merchant will receive his Eagle Scout Award at the Troop’s Court of Honor and Parents Night on Wednes- day evening, May 12, at the Mount Joy Scout House. Making the Eagle presenta- tion Mr. Joe Shaeffer an Officer of the Mount Joy Rotary Club which sponsors Troop #39. Numerous other awards and recognition will be given as part of the hour and half program. Chris began his Scouting activities in 1966 as a Cub Scout in Jamestown, NY. He has been an active Scout since then. His troop in Jamestown, NY elected him as a candi- date for the Order of the Arrow and he became an Ordeal Number in 1971. In 1972 he became a Brother- hood Member. After moving to Mount Joy in 1972, Christ became a member of Troop #39. Chris has had leadership positions most of the time of his membership in Troop #39. He has held the offices of Patrol Leader, Scribe, and Junior Assistant Scoutmas- ter. He is currenlty an Assistant Scoutmaster for #39. Chris is one who really enjoys the out-of-doors and finds outdoor activities are his main interests as he has attended all camping events. Chris is a senior at Donegal High School and plans to pursue a career in Forestry at Penn State campus in York, PA. He works part time at Crider’s Service Station in Mount Joy and does farm work. He is a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. Chris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Mer- chant and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. A. E, McDonald of York, PA. Jones to head DHS Booster Edgar Jones, Marietta, has been elected president of the recently organized Donegal Football Booster Club. The purpose of the or- ganization is to interest community parents and graduates in Donegal High School’s football program. Members would assist in fund raising programs to help develop the sport. Club The club will sponsor a chicken barbeque on May 7. Tickets may be purchased from any player. Additional officers are Steve Ney, vice-president and Mrs. Robert Carroll, secretary-treasurer. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 4, at 7:36 p.m., at the high school. Former Mta man to receive F&M award Dr. Herman F. Kraybill (formerly of Marietta, PA) now Scientific Coordinator for Environmental Cancer, National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland, who resides at 14112 Chelmsford Road, Rockville, Maryland (wife, Dorothy Ramsey Kraybill, former native of Marietta) will receive the Franklin and Marshall Alumni Citation Award at the Alumni Luncheon dur- ing Alumni + Weekend at Franklin and Marshall College on May 1.
