Page 2 - SUSQUEHANNA TIMES MJ JC-ettes hold meeting The monthly meeting of the Mount Joy Joycee-ettes was held Tuesday, April 20 at the Boro Hall. President Sarah Heckert presented awards to two Joycee-ettes who were un- able to attend the annual Installation Banquet held April 3. The club’s “Outstanding New Mem- ber’’ award was presented to Sue Thomas, and a certificate of appreciation was presented to JoAnne Aument for serving as Ways and Means Chairman. JoAnne Nolt reported that plans are being finalized for operating a food stand during the Jaycees carnival May 26-29. Sandy Meckley and Crystal Fackler announ- ced that this years 75 plus Banquet will take place June 10 at Hostetters Banquet Hall. Invitations have been addressed and will be sent to persons 75 years of age and older who have resided in the Mount Joy area. Co- chairman Harriet Ney and Sharon Funk announced Wednesday, April 28 as the date for our next hoagie sale. Preparations have been started for this years Christmas Bazaar to be held Friday, November 5 and Saturday morning Novem- ber 6 at St. Marks Fellow- ship Hall. Co-chairman for the Bazaar are Kathy Bower and Donna Wetzel. Sunday, May 2 is the date for our 2nd annual Club- women’s Tea to be held at Hostetters Banquet Hall from 3- S PM. The ‘Women of the Year®award will be presented at this time. Upon adjournment of the meeting refreshments were served. o The Donegal High School “Rhythm Singers”’ provided the Joycee-ettes with an entertaining pre- view of their Bicentennial program. MJ Library plans last Storyhour by Mrs. James Heilig The last storyhour session for the Mount Joy Library’s 1975-76 season will be held on Tuesday morning, May 18th. The honor system for checking out books for the storyhour period has been for the convenience of the storyhour mothers and it is requested that all children’s books taken out by this system be returned to the Mount Joy Library by Tues- day, May 4th. After this date and over the summer Bicentennial Session months, library cards will be needed to check out child- ren’s books. The storyhour offered by the Mount Joy Library will resume its program on Tuesday, September 14, 1976. Ball Dean Bechtold gets his picture taken the old fashioned way. Mrs. Romayne Bridgett, voice teacher and Mount Joy resident, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Lancaster County Lung Association. Prize winners at the Marietta- Maytown- East Donegal Bicentennial Ball were; best colonial costumes Odessa Mull and Col. Oscar Stroh; best colonial students- Lilikette Ecken- rode and Bill Peightel; best red white and blue costumes -Wilbur and Lois Haas. The ladies who won prizes got red rose bushes. The men got a set of the S books of the Lancaster Revolution- ary Series. The food committee pre- pared an old-fashioned feast for guests at the ball.
