Page 14 - SUSQUEHANNA TIMES Grade school Globetrotters win The strong defense of the Globetrotters and the sharp shooting of Mike Frey and Daryl Risberg keyed a mild upset over the Celtics Saturday evening at Beahm Gym during the Donegal School District Grade School Basketball Tournament. The Globetrotters won 31—19. Frey acccounted for 17 points while teammate Da- ryl Risberg tallied 12 points for the tournament winners. Bill- Byrd led the Celtic scoring with 12 points. In the consolation game Donegal outmatched the Lakers 37-28. Wayne Zim- merman and Scott Snyder combined for 28 points to lead the charge. Keith Mueller had 10 points and Carl Steinhart scored 8 points for the Lakers. The grade school basket- ball program began the first week of December, and for seven weeks fundamentals were stressed. During the second half of the season, a league was formed, and four teams were chosen. Each team played a nine-game schedule, concluding with the basketball tournament. Jim Metzler was assisted by Jere Duke and John Shrum in running the program. The Globetrotters’ coach is John Shrum. The players are Mike Frey, Daryl Ris- berg, Kerry Neiss, Thur- mond McNece, Marlin Bert, Bob Blevins and Kevin DeHoff. The Donegal team is coached by Art Haas. The players are Scott Snyder, Wayne Zimmerman, Kevin Hostetter, Steve Shireman, Wayne Emenheiser (dribbling) drives past Kevin DeHoff. Wayne Chappel (background) watches.
