Mrs. Kathryn Heisey, vice-president, pre- sided over the meeting in the absence of the presi- dent, Mrs. Grace Bixler. Miss Anna Mae Eby led the ladies in singing. Miss Ruth Eby presented the main feature on the program as she gave brief histories of dolls from as early as 1790. Dolls were made of many materials and dressed to represent the inhabitants of the immedi- ate area. Individuals of renown having outstanding collections were mentioned. Mrs. Lane, a visitor and a former resident of Mount Joy, showed a copy of the Mary Frances Sewing Book with patterns for doll cloth- ing many years ago. She brought a doll wearing clothing made from these patterns. Alice Myers had devo- tional time and read ‘‘The Spirit of ’'76’" for the Bicentennial year, as well as “Lincoln in Retrospect,” an excerpt from ‘Lincoln in Prayer.’’ Twenty - seven members responded to Rell Call with Bible verses. Two visitors were present. Mary Grace Martin read minutes of the January meeting and later played ‘‘Prelude’’ and ““Traumerie’’ by Schumann on the piano. The Ways and Means committee reported that the bus going to the Spring Rally on May 12 will leave St. Mark’s Church, Mount Joy at 9 a.m. Contact Mrs. William Heisey, Mount Joy, R #1 Box 238, phone 426-3311 for further infor- mation. The committee in charge of Centennial proceedings gave special recognition to Mrs. Evelyn Rentzell in the form of a ‘‘Bicentennial Certificate of Appreciation’’ for the blue taffeta dress trimmed with pink lace which she made. A decision was made to contribute to the Welsh Mountian as a County Project. Colorful and delicious refreshments were provided by Misses Ruth and Anna Mae Eby, Alice Myers, Mary Shaeffer and Lizzie Keener.
