He was the husband of Helen J. Blount Frye. Born in Hickory, NC he was a son of the late Jefferson and Octavia Ward Frye. He was retired from the former Donegal Steel Foun- dry, Marietta, and was affiliated with St. John’s Episcopal Church, Marietta. Surviving, in addition to his widow, are four sons and two daughters: Beverly, wife of Gregory R. Roye, and Nancy, wife of Dale R. Sheff, Sr., both of Lan- caster, and John, Glenn, Hal, and Bob Frye, all four of Hickory; one sister, Alice Carpenter, Hickory, and 11 grandchildren. ELIZABETH S. GREENAWALT Mrs. Elizabeth S. Greena- walt, 77, died at 4:30 a.m., Monday at Conestoga View, where she had been a patient for four days. Her death followed a lengthy illness. Mrs. Greenawalt had been a guest at Shady Lawn Boarding Home, Columbia R2, for two years and was a former Mount Joy resident. HAINES John F. Haines, S0, of 223 West Main Street, Mount Joy, died unexpectedly Sat- urday morning at St. Joseph Hospital. Haines was employed by J. Miller Eshleman & Son Company of Landisville for the past 10 years, and formerly had been employed with John F. Haines of Mount Joy, a contractor. He was a member of the Protestant faith and had been a resident of Mount Joy for the past 11 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of W.S. Haw- thorne, 71, of 4 West High Street, Maytown, died un- expectly Thursday afternoon at St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Perry County, she was a daughter of the late Orie C. and Arabella M. Johns Smith, and the widow of J. Albert Hawthorne. She had retired from teaching elementary school after 27 years in the Eliza- be thtown area. She was a member of Bainbridge Church of God, the Maytown Fire Company Auxiliary, and various teacher organizations. Surviving are two daugh- ters, Joyce, wife of Jere Embley; Johanne, wife of James Shank, both of May- town; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sister, Hannah, wife of George S. Engle, Maytown; Estella, wife of Walter Prescott, Elizabethtown; two brothers David Patrick Smith, and William R. Smith, May- town. PAUL HERCHELROATH Paul B. Herchelroath, 85, of Wasp Street, Marietta, died Wednesday at his home. His death was un- expected, although he had been under a physician’s care. A retired iron molder, Herchelroath worked in a number of foundries in Marietta, Mount Joy, and Columbia areas. He attend- ed Congregational Bible Church, Marietta. He served in the Army in the Philippines from 1911 to 1914. His wife was the late Mary S. Dolby Herchel- roath. Born in Mount Joy, he was a son of the late John and Margaret McBride Herchelroath. Surviving are four sons, Paul B. and George W., both at home, and John R. and Charles R., both of Harrisburg; 10 grandchild- ren; eight great-grandchild- ren; a brother, John Her- chelroath, Bainbridge, and a sister, Martha Floyd Ben- der, Lebanon. ANDREW V. KELLY Andrew Vincent Kelly, 13, of Mount Joy R1, died early Saturday at his home following a one and one-half year illness. An eighth grade student at W. I. Beahm Junior High School, Mount Joy, he played the saxophone in the junior high school band. He attended Glossbren- ner United Methodist Church and was a member of Troop 63, Boy Scouts of America. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Erwin R. and Linda Lee Diven Kelly. Surviving besides his parents are a brother and sister, Donald and Lee Anne both at home, a paternal grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Kelly, Neelyton. DR. RUSSEL STONER Dr. Russel P. Stoner, 62, Waddington, NY formerly of Marietta, died unexpectedly Friday morning en route to a New York state hospital. Stoner and Bertha Biever Stoner. Dr. Stoner was a graduate of Manheim High School and attended Frank- lin and Marshall and Eliza- bethtown Colleges, the University of Virginia and graduated from Hahnemann Medical College, Philadel- phia, in 1940. He interned at St. Joseph Hospital. He was a staff doctor at Columbia Hospital and con- ducted a practice in Mari- etta for 15 years. He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific, and was post surgeon of the Seneca Ordnance Depot, Romulus, NY. He was discharged with the rank of major. He was a member of Ashara Lodge 398, Free and Accepted Mason, Zem- bo Temple and the Lancas- ter County Shrine Club. He was a former member and president of the Marietta Rod and Gun Club.
