All seven won Reader’s Club awards. Ceramics at Mount Joy Library by Jean Hamilton Thanks tc Mrs. Mary Ann Kramer, the Mount Joy Library has a temporary new lock. On display at the library are many different kinds of ceramics from her ceramics shop at Columbia, PA. A surprise baby shower for Mrs. Mrs. Sara Manning, teacher of the 4-year old class in the Little Pecple’s Nursery at the Florin Church of Brethren, was given a surprise baby shewer Friday morning. The children and their mothers served refresh- Sara Manning ments and presented the teacher with a gift certificate for a month’s supply of diapers. Mrs. Manning also received many other gifts for the expected arrival. She and her husband, Kevin reside at Highlawn Avenue, Elizabethtown. Mrs. Sara Manning has a big smile for two of the many youngsters who gave presents at the baby shower. Mrs. Kramer became in- terested in ceramics when she took a course or class at another local ceramics shop. She then decided to open her own ceramics shop where she could hold courses in ceramics. Mrs. Kramer's display includes a napkin holder, miniature animals, a candle holder, bicentennial candle holders, bicentennial plates, Easter egg baskets, and numericus others. 50 parents at reading mtg. More than S50 parents crowded into the Donegal "High School library last Wednesday, January 28, 1976 te suppeort the Special Reading program in the Donegal Elementary Scheels. Twice a year, the district holds Parent Ad- visory Ceuncil meetings for the federally funded ESEA Title I program. Any interested parent may attend meetings and serve on the council as long as the majority of parents are parents of children participating in the pro- gram. Mr. John Sauter, director of Elementary Education, gave a brief history of the program and led a dis- cussion concerning parent’s suggestions and reactions. Parent after parent gave testimony to the noticeable positive results of the program. Some said their children had better attitudes and felt more secure work- ing in small groups. Some emphasized the importance of reading in everyday life. One said her son now falls asleep with a book. All said their children could read better after getting the special instruc- tion. Mrs. Linda Boozer, read- ing supervisor, ended the meeting with a video-tape presentation showing the four ESEA Title 1 teachers at werk in their classrooms.
