January 21, 1976 Joe Shaeffer heads Leisure Club by Joe Shaeffer The Mount Joy Leisure Club met at Hostetters, Monday, January 12 with 106 members and guests present. President Joe Shaeffer officiated and after the pledge of allegiance to the flag, cake and coffee were served. Following the dessert the business meeting began with the secretary's report by Nedra Brandt and the treasurer’s report by Kath- ryn Zink. George Groff reporting on Community Bd Bd” Council, stated no more meetings would be held by this organization because of lack of interest and difficulty in getting people to serve as officers. Mr. Groff reported that the Community Council would continue to sponsor various programs in the community. Mrs. Elizabeth Hassinger of the Sunshine Committee reported that 18 Ideal Magazines were sent to the shut-ins. Chairman of the Sunshine Committee for the months ot January, Febru- ary, and March will be Mrs. Lena Eshleman. 144 W. One quest was present, Mr. Irving LeVin. Birthday and anniversary songs were sung to those celebrating birthdays or anniversaries in December and January. Under old business, President Shaef- fer announced that the book titled ‘‘Benefits and Rights of Older Pennsylvanians’ and the sheets from the Office of the Aging are still available. There being ne other old business, President Shaef- fer turned the meeting over to Mrs. George Groff, Chairlady of the Nominating Committee. Mrs. Groff pre- sented the following slate, President, Joe Shaeffer; First Vice-President, Clark Sheldon; Secretary, Nedra Asst. Secretary, Anna Zerphey; Treasurer, Kathryn Zink; Asst. Trea- surer, John Brown; Record- ing Secretary, Clinton Eby; and Asst. Recording Secret- ary, Mrs. Maude Frey. Mrs. Groff called for other nom- inations; there being none, the nominees presented by her were elected to office. President Shaeffer spoke on several item of interest to senior citizens. At the present time no bus trips are being planned. The follow- ing were named hostesses for February: Kathryn Zink, Edna Wolgemuth, Sara Zimmerman, Anna Zerphey Fanny Zeager, Melba Zink, Minnie Tucker, and Nellie Vogel. There being no fave business, the meeting ad- journed and President Shaeffer introduced Mr. Lester Hostetter, Trust Officer of the Union Nation- al Bank, who spoke on “Wills and Estates’ and then opened the meeting for questions and answers. The next meeting at Hostetters will be February 9 and will begin at 12 noon. Members are urged to come at that time.
