The Press, always aiming to keep abreast of the time, endeavors to give its readers tho latest local news, and whenever it is possible to make the paper more Interesting insothor ways. Through our Chicago representa tive we have arranged for the u uouncouiont of the Lion Coffee Contest, which appears in this issue in which details are given of how t50,000 will be awarded to the pub lic, and those readers of the Press that display the necessary amount of pains, patience, research, and skill may bo made rich men and women. How 50,000 Is to Ile Gtten Away The Lion Coffee people will give the readers' of the Prrss and the public one or more votes in their oontost, on mailing to thm five lion heads taken from the Lion Cuffed packages and a 2 cent stamp for each vote. There are two con tests one being based on the at tendance July 4 next at the World's Fair, St. Louis, in which 120,000 is to be awitrded ; the second contest is based on the popular vote for Prosident (ail candidates combined) to be cast on Nov. 8 next. On this contest $30,000 will be awarded, and in addition to this, a capital prize of 5,000 will be given to the one who is nenrest correct on both contests. This makes $45,000, the other $5,000 being reserved for the grocers' clorks that sell most Lion Coffoe. -JVIilford Mast Win This Money Some of this money has got to oome into Milford. In the 4,279 cash prizes to be awarded thore are 15,000, 12,500, $1,000 and 1500 prizes and the Phkss would like to feel thut it had been the cause of some one getting this money. In order that our roadors may have some information for estimat ing, we will oompare the St. Louis World's Fair with Chicago, The Chicago fair, which opened the same day of the year as St Louis-April 30 had as an opening day's attendance 137,557. St. Louis on its oponing day had 178,423. This ought to have some bearing to show that St, Louis will draw larger orowds day by day than did Chicago" lue July 4 attendance at the Chi oago World's Fair was 283,273, and it is up to you to estimate what the attendance on the same day will be at St. Louis, although we remind you to conaider the financial condi. tions of 1893 and those of 1904. Eighteen hundred and ninety throe was a panio year. In 1904 every one has money. People are going to St, Louis who conld not afford to go to the Chioago fair Ra'lroad rates were never lower ; transportation facilities never better farmers are prosperous, the whole world is awake to the wonders of the greatest of world's fairs, and the result will ba a wonderfully large increase in the attendance on July 4 at St. Louis ver the corre spouding day at Chicago. Bad weather on that exact date is the only thing that can bring the at tendance down to a lower number. Mow the Presidential Vote Kunl The contest for popular voto for President at tho national election, which takes place on Nov. 8 next, gives Phksj readers a second oppor. tunity to gather in a goodly lot of the Lion Coffeo shokels, while the one who is nearest in both the World's Fair and the Presidential contests will receive the grand special premium of $5,000 cash. The meaning of the term "popu lar vote" is the totul number of voters who cast their ballots for all candidates. In other words, it is the sum total of tho Democratic, Republican, Prohibition, Sooialist, Labor, and all other ballots cast for President on any and all tickets, on Nov. 8, 1904. As a guide to correct guessing we give the oflicial figures ot the popu lar votes for Prebident during the past five Presidential elections, which ware as follows: l&l 10,0f4,885 18 Il,3s0,to0 12,069,353 1SU6 13,93,378 19U0 13,923,653 It will be noted that each four years allows an increase, and it is safe to figure on about the same averse ratio of increase in the vote of 1904, Voto Karly Bud Often I This adviee has been administered mnny times, but tho Piikss again wishrr to bring it to your attention. Here is a clianon offered its readers not only to make R big sum of money, but the excitement and skill entailed should bring interest to one and all. " The Lion Coffee pnoplo are abso lutely and perfectly responsible for many times tho amount involved, and those who win can be sure that they will get their money promptly and honorably. The awards are to be made by such honorable gentlemen as the Congressman from Toledo, the Post msster of Toledo, and the President of the First National B;uik of Toledo all Government officials in high positions, who will not give their judgment until they have gone into the matter with care. There is no limit placed on the number of times you may vote. All it takes is Ave lion heads off the Lion Coffee packages and a 2 cent stamp for one vote. Now dig in and get rich. ) lev Russian dispatches indicate that the greatest confidence still remains In General Kuropatkiu, despite the successes which have attended Jap anese movements on land. Should this idol of Russia fail on land as did Alexieff at sea, it is not difficult to foresee the gloom and despond ency into which the Russian spirit would descend. Certainly Russia leans upon Kuropatkin as upon no other man. He is now upon ground of his own clioosing and he has "enticed" the enemy to follow him. Should he there receive one decided defeat, with Russian and Japanese forces anything like equal, the Rus sian cause would reoeive a stagger ing if not a final bloW. "BEST OF ALL FLOUR.
