SAFE TRICK OR TREAT Misericordia University Department of Residence Life will offer a safe trick- or-treat event for children from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. Area residents are invited to take their children to campus and visit a number of the university's residence halls. The halls that will be open for trick-or-treating will include McHale, Alumnae and Monsignor Andrew J. McGowan residence halls. There will also be treats in the lobby of Gildea Hall. The screening is open free to the public. In “VOTE: The Disabled Democracy,” Melissa Sgroi, Ed.D., chair, and Dan Kimbrough, M.S., assistant professor, of the Department of Communications at Misericordia University, greatly expand their exploration of barriers to voting for people with disabilities. In part one, the professors chronicled how accessibility issues can disenfranchise voters by inhibiting their entry to polling places in northeastern Pennsylvania.
