Duris is Eagle Scout Dominick Duris, a member of Boy Scout Troop 444 in Sweet Valley, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout by the Boy Scouts of America on Dec. 28, 2010. For his service project, Duris renovated an old library at the River of Life Fellowship Church in Lehman. He replaced ceiling tiles, scraped paint, filled holes in the walls, painted all the walls and heaters, cleaned and vacu- umed the rugs and removed all debris from the room. The room will now be used for the youth of the church. Duris earned 50 badges, in- cluding the 21 specific required ones. He has held many posi- tions in Boy Scouts and is now a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster helping other Boy scouts. At his Court of Honor, Duris was presented with Certificates of Recognition from Pennsylva- nia House of Representatives, re- quested by State Rep. Karen Bo- back, and by the Senate of PA, requested by Senator Lisa Baker. The son of Jim and Lorrie Du- ris, Duris is a senior at Lake-Leh- man Senior High School and plans to attend college in the fall. Regency Classic Wood Stoves Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant local competition, Miss Luzerne County Teen, will be hosted by the Dallas Middle School and the not-for-profit NE PA Scholar- ship Association at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 16 at the Dallas Middle School. Suggestion donations of $10 per person will go directly to the scholarship fund for young wom- en. Three guests will share the hosting duties on stage, includ- ing the reigning Miss Berks County Bryn Harvey, the reign- ing Miss Greater Reading Jenna Schmalhofer and Jill Wiley, the 2009 Miss PA Outstanding Teen. The Miss Outstanding Teen program was created in 2005 to encourage positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement, cre- ative accomplishment, healthy Good Food at a Good Value!
