Sparks team wins championship The Arris ' Engineering Sparks beat the Grasshopper Lawns Suns, 44-37, to win the 7th-8th grade girls’ Dallas Youth Basketball champion- ship. The Sparks were led by Ta- lia Szatkowski’s 37 points. Katie Kravitsky turned in a great defensive effort with her shot blocking and Ally Rome helped out with some key steals. The Suns’ leading scorers were Gabby Volpetti with 19 points and Lindsey Jacobs with 10 points. CASSIDY FORD WINS SKATING MEDALS Cassidy Ford, of Shavertown, recently competed in the Pennsylvania Skating Championships of the Keystone State Games in York, winning silver medals in Stroking and Spot- light Solo and earning a first-place medal for Jump & Spin. She is the daughter of Darren and Tracy Ford and is a third- grade student at Dallas Elementary School. Ford is coached by Heidi Renfer. CIVIC BRIEFS Breakfast planned George M. Dallas Lodge No. 531, Free and Accepted Masons will sponsor an all-you-can-eat charity breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. today, March 13 at the Daddow-Isaacs American Le- gion Post 672 in Dallas to bene- fit masonic charities. The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, pancakes, hash browns, sausage, danish, coffee, tea and orange juice.
