PAGE 8 Sunday, January 9, 2011 THE DALLAS POST SCHOOL BRIEFS Seminary plans Visitation Day The Wyoming Seminary Up- per School in Kingston and Lower School in Forty Fort are offering area elementary, middle and high school students and their families an opportunity to visit either campus on Monday, Jan. 17. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Lower School and at 8:30 a.m. at the Upper School. Visiting students will attend classes, tour campus and have lunch. Novelist will lecture at Misericordia Misericordia University, in conjunction with the College of Arts and Sciences, is presenting the lecture, “Writing in My Pajamas: Thoughts on the Writ- ing Life,” by best-selling Latina novelist Sandra Cisneros at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31 in Walsh Hall at Misericordia Uni- versity’s Lemmond Theater. General admission tickets for the lecture are $15 for the public and $5 for students. Tickets are available from the Misericordia University Box Office at 674- 6719. Lock-In Committee plans meeting The Dallas High School 2011 Graduation Lock-In committee will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19 in the high school library. DHS Grad Lock-In is an alco- hol-free, drug-free, fully chap- eroned, all-night party for the graduating class. It will be the 12th lock-in and will be held after graduation on Friday, June 3: Grocery certificates for Mr. Z’s and Thomas’ Family Market will be sold in increments of $50. Undergraduate parents, as well as senior parents, are en- couraged to attend the meet- ings. Sem Lower School will conduct exam Current fourth- through sev- enth-graders not already en- rolled at Wyoming Seminary Lower School are encouraged to register for Sem’s Middle- School Merit Scholarship Exam to be held Saturday, Feb. 5 at the school’s Forty Fort campus. Exam registration will be at 8:15 a.m. and the exam will be given at 8:30 a.m., ending at 11 a.m. Parents are invited to stay for a presentation including financial aid information, tour and refreshments. Sem Upper School to offer scholarships Area eighth- and ninth-grad- ers not already enrolled at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School are encour- aged to register for the Wyom- ing Seminary Scholarship Exam to be held Saturday, Feb. 5 at the school’s Kingston campus. Registration will be at 9 a.m. and the exam will be given at 9:30 a.m. at the Upper School campus.
